2.11.605.5 OTA Update Has Started

Did you or anyone get bumped up to Sense 2.1? If so go to the clock widgets and notice a new widget that has the clock with facebook updates and notifications as opposed to the clock with the weather. One...

Sense 2.1 ... Roger.

I'd be impressed with the clock/facebook widget if I had facebook.

However... phone now makes a funny noise when "wake it" up...

Now I was able to start the download... and for some reason, it is doing it at 1x, so I think it will take a while...

Really happy to hear that the voicemail issue was fixed.

Just manually updated after server unavailable all last night and this morning.
Coming from froyo I'm impressed with the speed improvements already.

updated. now when phone resets or first turned on, it's in "car mode". that's new. I assume there's a setting somewhere to disable that (which I've not found yet).

new discovery... when I answer a phone call, it answers in speakerphone mode. i have to turn that off to talk normally.

this is a bit annoying to say the least!

I feel ya. I don't do facebook myself. I used my wife's account to check out its functionality. Btw it does work.

Glad to see everyone is getting the update and is liking it. I just wanted to post this here, if anyone is rooted and running stock firmware they will still get the update and it will soft brick the phone, but it is easily recoverable. If you are rooted and running stock firmware please follow the instructions I posted here http://androidforums.com/thunderbol...-started-if-you-rooted-stock-please-read.html to get the update and avoid issues with the OTA.

I'm pretty sure this is the same as on android police. I read somewhere that HTC blocked the manual update option because it was causing issues, and that we have to wait for the ota to hit our regions.

I don't think so. I got it last night (night before the ota rolled out) and I had no issues.

I heard that there are 2 new skins with this update, is this true? I got the leak from android police & the skins weren't included.

After reading all these posts, I'm sure I have a problem. Here's the story:

2 weeks ago, I upgraded another line onto my phone and went from a Thunderbolt to an iPhone (PLEASE....no comments on that dumb move. I already realize how stupid that was).

Last Thursday I came to my senses and decided to go back to my Bolt. Problem #1 arises as now I need a new SIM card. Call Verizon, and they ship one to me. I try to swap on Saturday night, but I get a message on the Bolt that says something about waiting for the SIM card to activate, it never does, Verizon's web site is down for maintenance, and they are closed and cannot activate my phone and tell me to try again on Sunday.

I try again on Sunday, and while the message stays on my screen for a while, it finally goes away, and the phone is functioning as it should (or so I thought).

Note to anyone who swaps from an iPhone to another smartphone.....TURN OFF iMessage on the iPhone BEFORE YOU DEACTIVATE THE PHONE!!! Apparently now, people with iPhones who send me a message are sending it to somewhere in cyberspace because I'm defaulted to iMessage. I'm not getting their texts.

Anyway.....I've been trying to get my update (back on thread again), and when I click on "Check New" it says it's checking for new updates, gives me the option to cancel it, and then the box just disappears. It gives me no error message, or anything....it just stops.

I've also noticed (with the help of a Verizon rep at the store today) that my Bolt is not showing as my phone in the system. Like when I sign onto My Verizon, it shows my number, but does not have a phone associated with it. It shows a generic gray picture of a phone. It doesn't say anywhere that I have a Bolt. And it's like that in Verizon's system as well.

Sound like a bad SIM card maybe????? I don't think I'll ever get the update as long as my phone isn't being seen by the system. Any opinions? (Except for the snarky "You should have never gone to the iPhone" comments) :-)

I believe that I am having a very similar issue. I am on a family plan and my sister upgraded the new iPhone last week and when she did she was unable to text my phone. I don't know why or what happened. But that issue has since been corrected. All I did was restart my phone.

Now, when I try to search for the update it searches and then just disappears like you have described. I have no idea what to do. I haven't called Verizon yet. I know the update is available because my roommate who also has the Thunderbolt was able to download the update.
