2.2.1 Update

Thanx man, do you have a link for the hacked app?

Yes I too would like to get a link to this software. I actually own this particular phone and believe it would be of a lot more use to someone that actually has this phone. I've google searched for "Hacked LG Updater" and came up empty.

Thanks Danyvw, this is the manual installation. Isn't the update tool supposed to come with the phone or am I mistaken? Also, I downloaded the software onto my phone where can I locate it an install it? And have you been having some of the similar issues I mentioned in my previous post. Thanks again. I know this is a great phone, I just wish mines wasn't defective.

The software didn't come with your phone, has to be installed in your PC. I got it because there's a link in the MetroPCS webpage under our phone specs.

Me too. Nothing came out.

I tried pushing the old update through to my phone with no success. And i tried forcing the update through sdk. But i cant find the .dll file. anyone know how to get that file.

Can you post or send the original update to me? Richiedaze@gmail.com

I am going to post everything I have on the LG Optimus M Developement thread soon.

PS
The tool is called KDZ_FW_UPD.exe

Yes pretty please send this file to Richie. OMG! We could be close to a full recovery!!!!!!! *head explodes*

I found the link to download the new firmware directly from LG. Used a TCP Sniffer and the Updater Soft to find it. The firmware came in *.cab extention (123.913 Kb). It has one .dll, one .wdb and one .wdh file inside. The name is MS690ZV4_26.S4_26.P3015.cab

The sad thing is that I don't need it, the one I need is the old one to root back my poor unrootable Optimus.:(

That's no firmware file. The firmware file would be a .BIN file and around 318MB.

Google searches for any files named MS690ZV3 have come up empty for me.

Hey guys so my phone did turn out to be defective. I went to my nearest corporate location - they had a quick look at the phone and went in the back room gave my a replacement. No questions asked.

Now I've encountered a new problem - updating to version 2.2.1

I managed to install the LG mobile Update software and got as far as attempting to install the driver for the USB Cable. I am not certain if a disk came with my phone or not, but I managed to find the USB drivers online anyway. Now when I try to install those drivers the ones I downloaded from the MetroPCS website I am told "An Error occured during installation of the device: The driver cannot be installed because it is either not digitally signed or is not signed in the appropriate manner."

My question is can someone please guide me how to install these drivers without an installation disk for the LG Mobile Update: Step by Step please and you have my thanks.

STOP RIGHT THERE!!!! Do not! Do not update! If you update you will make your phone unable to be rooted. Since you have a fresh phone with an untouched 2.2 firmware on it you should instead contact forum member richiedaze and try to help him with getting some kind of custom recovery/firmware created. Please do this for this forums community. :)

Nevermind as in you're gonna try to help this community by working with richiedaze or you already upgraded the phone making it useless for any modification what so ever?

I intended to help but when I ran my update it said I had the latest files. I just got this replacement phone yesterday so I assume it already had the update installed. They ship these phones constantly in my area because they are on demand so I guess unless you got yours from the first batch shipped you won't have the original. Sorry richiedaze.

Can someone tell me how I could find the file you need for 2.2? I made the mistake of updating my phone, but my dad has the same phone and he hasn't updated his. We may be saved after all! :D

If he has an untouched 2.2 install then you should contact forum member richiedaze. He's posted in this thread so just look for his name and click on it and then contact him so he can tell you what you need to do to get the files he will need to make a custom 2.2 recovery/rom.

2.2's full file name is MS690ZV3_36.S3_36.P3014. If there was only a way to force the program to download the files for that version we'd be set. I do happen to have a file but it is a .TOT file named: MS690ZV3_36.S3_36.P3014.tot

The only program that I know that can open this type of file is the programing software cell providers use to recover phones which is called LGPNST or something like that.

richiedaze has the files he needs. Hopefully we will have a fix soon :)

I now have a complete 2.2 system.img rom. Thank you to Mrtoolman and his pops...

Danyvw, this is great to keep on file. Thank you and the others for your effort in helping me obtain missing peices.

I will have someone at cdmagurus have a look see...

cdmagurus huh? Not to be a killjoy, but I know for a fact that certain people that frequent that forum expect some kind of compensation for their services. Hell, right on their main page (http://cdmagurus.com/) they beg for money because someone can get SPC codes for any phone. Either that or they obtain certain files or make something new that no one else has access to and then try to grab up as much cash as they can for it. The ball is definitely rolling on some kind of solution but I'll be damned if I shell out money for it.

Reading many post and all replies states that even 2.2.1 roms can be rooted with z4root.apk. Some say you will have to do a factory reset for it to work.

Also the exploit that achieves the root is in the adb daemon. You guys/gals would have to have adb set up on you computer, which you should already have since you are tinkering with your phones.

If your having this proplem and have adb already set up,and you have factory reset your phone and z4root.apk still doesn't work, please let me know!
