2.2 Pushed back..again

question. I am currently using my vibrant, if I keep my myTouch 3g on without simcard(inserted and removed) on wifi will i get the froyo update or is my common sense right thinking simcard+network(3g) needed?

Can't imagine why you would get the update. Without the SIM card inserted, for all intents and purposes you're not on the network, WiFi or not.

And there are those of us who hope that sombionix, dev of the Bionix ROM, gets his hands on it very soon!

HERE HERE!!!

BTW w_bovine I sent you a PM over on XDA, afterwards I found the 1.8 fix for the black keyboard, but I will be damned if I cant get it to work!

Sorry didnt mean to thread jack

EDIT: Nevermind I see he just uploaded another fix for the black keyboard

Yeah...I saw it a while ago and responded...never really think to check for them!

How about more discussion regarding this, then the nonsense

I don't know that there's a great deal to discuss yet, until the devs start making some ROM's using it. I've no doubt they're already aware of it, but it will take some time to get something put together.

It's a great start of course, but the code will have to be modified for each individual model of the Galaxy S.

tmobile is pushing out the update to all my touch (old users) this week, the put it on the g2, they wont push it to us(the vibrant owners) until it hits all their other phones. it is a shame that samsung and tmobile wont take care of the #1 phone out there, yes i said #1. WAY BETTER THAN THE EVO!!!. the only thing that makes evo worth having is the sense oi. they have not even put out good cases fot the vibrant.

I am very happy with my Vibrant. That said, I can't blame irritated people who haven't dealt with Samsung before.

My advice - consider the following carefully before purchasing a Samsung product:
1. confirm that every feature really important to you is what Samsung claims
2. don't consider any Samsung promises of future software upgrades

I learned my lesson with the Samsung Instinct on Sprint.

On the bright side the Android OS is open source and the developer community is fantastic at hacking around issues. Samsung can make all the BS promises they want... I'll count on getting the goodies from the wonderful community devs.

Can't wait to sample me some Froyo goodness!

I am getting pretty frustrated with waiting for 2.2 on the Samsung Vibrant. I purchased this phone the first day (Mid July 2010) assuming the Vibrant would get 2.2 by September/October at the very lastest.

Jeez... here we go again. No one here believes that you purchased the phone under the assumption that it would receive Froyo by Sept/Oct. If you did, did you not learn anything from the Behold II fiasco?

At the time of release, Samsung had only said it would receive Froyo, but at that time, no dates had been mentioned.
