Root 2.2 Root?

This is my first android device so I am new to root. I did the update like a moron first so I have been waiting for 2.2 to get an easy root method. Many of you seem to be a bit more savy with the more complicated flashing so here's what I found.

that links to a rooted rom. not the actual root its self. you have to already be rooted to take advantage of that

Read the last sentence in that article:

For those who have already applied either version of the update, the wait for being able to root what's currently on your phone continues.

Here's the distinction: the ROM has been rooted. But there's no way to get that ROM on an unrooted PHONE because there's no way to flash it without root access.

So those rooted ROMs you see are for existing rooted phones. They came out pretty much the same time as the OTA. Note the date of that article.
