2.2 slow icon refresh

I have the icon lag as well. i am not rooted and did the manual FRG01B update. Atleast we now know it does not matter if you cleared your phone before performing the update.

FYI, So far after about a day and a half it has improved it for me, I've only seen icon lag happen maybe once or twice since the reset and it is now a very short lag (< 1s vs > 5s previously). But I could be in the minority.
 
I have it as well.... randomly

sometimes, since I am rooted, I assumed that since I had SetCPU set to 250-400 while sleeping that it was lag time coming out of sleep. But, I often get it when going from some app to "home" and the icons are gone and then slowly load. Not what you would expect especially with a faster CPU setting. I might try this animations option, but who doesn't want cool effects like that?
 
I have this problem as well. I actually thought it might have something to do with LauncherPro because that is all I ever use. I used to have it before from time to time.. now it seems almost every time I push Home after using a couple programs. Pretty annoying actually.
 
That is why I like this forum! Thanks Twistedlim for the solution! It is annoying since I like the animations, but at least the problem seems to be solved.
 
Same issue here. I thought it was Launcher Pro since I installed that after I forced the update to 2.2 (unrooted). I uninstalled LP and installed Zeam launcher and had the same problem with the icon refresh.

I disabled animations and havent had any problems yet. We'll see how long this lasts.

OK, after some seeming success with turning off the animations, yesterday I got that icon refresh delay a few more times! boo
 
What animations does turning off the animations actually turn off? I tried that option, and the screen lag is a little better, but my live wallpaper still works, so I'm wondering what animation(s) I'm missing out on.
 
I sense the animations are relative to windows opening and such... I notice with it checked to "on" it seems windows or apps that open or close kind of zoom in or out quickly versus just open or close snappy

I moved all of my apps back to the phone and my screen redraw issues went away. I started moving them back to the SD card one by one and the issue came back after about 5 or 6 apps and continued to get worse the more apps I moved.

Then,
With apps moved to the SD card, I removed shortcuts from my desktop to any apps that were on the SD card. The redraw issue went away. I began adding the shortcuts back and again after 5 or so the redraw issue was back.

Would be interested to see if anyone else can reproduce this behavior...

Moved all apps to phone.. fixed screen lag instantly and consistantly.
 
I have had problems with icons also not displaying on homescreen for apps that on sd.. not all the time but sometimes. I'm running frg01b.. are frg22 users having the lag issue as well?
 
SNeitzel, I also removed all my programs on my SD card and moved them back to the phone and at first it didn't seem to work, but after a reboot, it sped it up a lot.

Now with that said, I wonder if we used a much faster SD card then the one that came with the Droid, you would think that would make a difference. If we had a Class 10 SD card I bet this wouldn't be a issue.
 
I have the screen lag and my apps are still on my phone, not my SD Card (confirmed with apps manager and Astro).
 
Had it before the update and have it still after the update. If I turn the screen black and back on again, it speeds the return of the icons. I am not rooted and have a very simple set up. I just figured it was something I had to live with and am surprised others have the same issues.

Other than that.. all is well on the phone. So far. It's only been 12 hours!

I have 1 app on the SD card, 1 I never really use and not on my home screens.. and I get the lag still so I am sure I buy into this one yet
