2.2 Software fix update coming...

I've had several of these same issues with my phone since the update. The really annoying part is the fact that I have to reboot and/or do a battery pull every day for some reason. Coming from a Windows mobile phone, that was the normal routine and I was glad I didn't have to do that with 2.1. Now I back to that practice. I hope they can fix that.

HI Everyone,

I have been a lurker her for about a week and this is my first post.
I just got my Droid X on Sept 29th. The first thing I did with it was to upgrade it to 2.2.

While, perhaps, I have not had my DX long enough, I have not experienced any of the problems mentioned in this forum. For example, I have never had my phone reboot on me.

Perhaps, I am not running enough of the applications that most of you are running. I don't stream TV shows; I don't have any music media on my phone other than a few added ringtones; I don't use YouTube, MySpace or Twitter or any of the social interactive widgets.

Could the difference between phones that have problems with 2.2 and the phones that don't, be more related to the difference in applications that are running on the different phones? In other words, could there be applications that are less 2.2 friendly? Then, perhaps, I am not really lucky with my DX and 2.2. I just haven't run one of those less 2.2 friendly applications that has caused one of these reported problems.

That could be the cause of some problems but people have had problems before they load any apps after a reset and SD format, so apps are not causing all of the problems. I installed autokiller and haven't had a battery manager fc since, not sure why it would help but it did

Really? I installed autokiller the other day and I still get force closes.

I was having fc's every time I opened bat manager no matter if it was just rebooted or on for days. After I installed autokiller it hasn't fc'd once, I don't understand either but it didn't work before and as soon as i tried after installing it worked, idk

Welcome to the Android Forums!

The issues some deal with on their phones can be caused by any number of reasons. In time you'll find a quirk or two in your phone! :)

Has anyone had these issues since the update?
1) Voice dial over bluetooth doesnt work unless I unlock the screen first. This is even in car dock.

2)Screen visualization no longer goes full screen. Kids loved that.

mine did 1) for a day. Reset probably fixed it. Haven't noticed it but will try again this weekend and see.

I just sbfed to the stock 2.2 yesterday, and it solved all my FCs and quirks. Ill bet that all those quirks are from upgrading from 2.1 to 2.2. But when I did a fresh 2.2 install, it works as advertized. Worth it. Dont forget to do a wipe and factory reset after you sbf.

I really hope the media fix they are talking about fixes my problem. The main issue that has made me so fricken angry after the froyo update has been not being able to use the stock music player at all. It always freezes in mid song. Doesn't respond. Locks up my phone sometimes. None of the task killers can kill it. It causes my phone to be unusabke at all untill I pull out the battery. I wiped my phone and cache and tried to reinstall a fresh froyo update and it did not fix the problem. Not to mention the issue where u call someone and neither person on either end can hear anything. I should get on that forum and let them know..

If you wiped and reloaded with the sbf, and it still does it, then you my friend have a hardware issue. Mine has never done that, and I just reloaded from scratch with that same sbf.

Well I feel like its a software issue. The stock music app is broken. I have been using media players from the market like meridian since froyo and it doesn't freeze. Using other media players suck tho because you don't get the lock screen controls. I just want the music app to work.

For what it's worth the stock music app on my DX works great... no freezes. :D

I hope they fix the bug with the MP3s. Every once in awhile my music app will say tha MP3s are unsupported even thoought I had just listened to one. Could even be the same file.

I did nothing but the OTA 2.2 update, no SD format, no factory reset. I don't have any of the issues everyone is talking about. I guess for once I'm just lucky. I'm scared to do any "fixes" when they come out.

There is no need to unroot.
I've never rooted before, but I was thinking about doing it this weekend to remove the stock launcher and the bloatware. If I root, with the OTA 2.2 I'll still be able to get the OTA or will I need to unroot? I just want to verify. Thanks :)

Mmk... I rooted. That was surprisingly easy. I renamed a bunch of the bloat (.apk to .bak). I am using LP+, when I try to rename BlurHome.apk to BlurHome.bak I can't get to the lock screen... when I change it back it works. I thought I could remove the stock launcher. Am I doing something wrong?

Just wanted to ask if anyone has any info on when the update will be out? So far my DX has been working pretty well, except for the battery mgr. FC every once in a while...but it would be nice to have this fixed nonetheless.

Thanks!:D

I no longer have the availability to make the visualization go full screen. Was nice when docked and had tunes turned up.

Anyone know if this option is still avail?

Have you tried the fix that is in the Tips & Tricks section? I did this over a week ago and had no problems with the Battery Manager FC. It would be worth a shot if that is the only problem you are having.

My phone came with 2.2 already on it, and thus far the only issue I have is that the phone will often get stuck on the Motorola logo when rebooting the phone. It requires a battery pull, but it's not like you have to reboot your phone much after you're done tinkering with themes ;]

Thanks Keymueller, I just tried this and it seems to work - the Batt Mgr FC'd just before I tried this fix and worked with no issues after. I just hope it stays that way - I read the whole thread and some people still had issues after the fix...weird that it works for some but not others.

Doubt it... I am sure the X will get GB but they will need to Blur it 1st..... I'd say it's a ways off for the X...
