2.2 upgrade is official

once again, only do what YOU are comfortable doing. I would hate to see you have any problems with your new phone.
 
I just did the online Chat with Metro and they have no plans on updating to 2.2. You will have to buy the Tapout Edition that already has 2.2 on it. I was very disappointed.

probably because alot of peoples on their facebook and in the store's asking for it...but also they might be saying that so peoples will stop asking and they will release surprisingly...never know about metro. But metro had message me this:

MetroPCS Hey Ronnie - Just to confirm, We are finalizing the Android 2.2 upgrade for the Ascend. We want to make sure that it delivers the best experience possible. We’ll keep you posted about timing as we grow closer to finalizing the update.April 8 at 2:40pm

And there we go. One online chat says the update is already out, another says no update is forthcoming. THIS is why people get ugly about the issue. Metro can't get their own story straight within their organization or through their outsourced support.

The specs they list on the Ascend are wrong, referencing the CPU, it's 528Mhz stock, not the same CPU as in the Optimus.

That is true, however, Issac has said the ascend is overclocked by huawei to run at 600mhz stock. That is why set cpu shows 600 without an overclock kernal.

Well my ascend is gone and I have moved on to the optimus and I must say the advantages are many...the biggest difference is my optimus doesent take 20 seconds to switch home screen pages or load apps it is altogether so much faster, the graphics are alot better, it supports more apps than my ascend did, Angry Birds is one that my ascend would not play but optimus will, option to install apps to sd, faster processor, supports up to 32gb external memory, The screen size difference isnt even so bad the only thing I do miss however is my track ball.

No offense taken I posted cuz I assumed that if a "company rep" tells me something is available then in fact it is, I mean she even specified when it became available, but as i said in earlier posts the phone was just too slow for me so I bought the optimus and am much happier now. I still have an ascend but for some reason it is stuck in safe mode, when i factory reset it is fixed for a few hours but then it always goes back into safe mode, so ive really never had a good experience with the ascend
 
Sorry your experience with it wasn't so good. One thing I will mention, however, is that the Ascend's performance is greatly increased when running a custom ROM such as Icarus. Granted, you won't be playing AB at high framerates, etc, but it's still a lot better than stock, which just plain sucks.
 
honestly ive played angry birds on an android and then i got it for the pc and screw ever playing it on a cell again thats all i gotta say
