Root 2.3.3 Gingerbread Issues Thread

I have the blueish box that slides up when scrolling up or down sometimes. And the damn sync icon.

Oh, and the back lit hard keys are super bright compared to 2.2 and they come on and go out at strange times.

When you simply dock the phone the hard buttons don't dim; they shine at full blast.

You have to dock the phone, tap the power button to fully dim the screen and buttons, and then wake the phone again while it's still in the dock.

Just noticed that Google voice doesn't play well with the dialer.

Google voice dials out to the proper number, but in the recent calls log it shows the Google voice access number rather than the actual number you had called.

Not a show stopper as it still displays the contact name, but gets a bit confusing when dealing with numbers not in your address book.

man this leak sounds really buggy. i think i'll wait for a while longer. I do have it downloaded in case i need it in the future.

I think alot of the bugs are more app related than an OS issue. GB is a newer build without alot of saturation to the market. It will get better sooner rather than later.

Sorry... I had to merge these two threads. (I'm a clean freak...not) ;) :p

I have seen the bluish box thing as well and it has been confirmed over at My Droid World as part of the Gingerbread build. It looks strange to me to, but many have said this is the way it is suppose to be. I have not had the sync icon issue.

I can't imagine it's supposed to be there. What purpose would it serve?

When you're drunk dialing and there's that hot girl in your phone book whose name begins with a Z that you never had the guts to call.

So while you're scrolling mindlessly in your drunken stupor your moto phone scrolls to the end and in a flash of destiny, her name glows blue. You call her and [censored].

It's just a little visual tweak. What purpose does the elasticity effect serve? None. For that matter, what purpose do any transition effects serve? It's just eye candy.

It was widely publicized as part of the Gingerbread build, I distinctly remember several GB articles mentioning it explicitly (on stock Android, it's an orange glow).

Just sbf'd back to .340... I need my root and other things... but gingerbread is awesome and once this is fully rooted I will be returning very fast to it. Glad to sbf though... my phone probably needed it.

It's an option on several browsers... I'm specifically referring to the new copy/paste function that was added in Gingerbread which allows a universal mechanism for copy/paste. I don't know if it needs to be implemented per-app but it's supposed to be a system wide copy/paste function.

The selection handles look like little houses.

system wide meaning in texts/emails also?

navigating around written text in a text message or email was horrible in stock 2.2.340....any better on gingerbread?

I'm getting the sync button you guys are talking about. I'm also getting an error on the market. Whenever I access any app I get an error saying something cannot be downloaded. I'm thinking this may be related to the empty sync icon.

Aside from that I'm not having a problem with anything else. The lag issues mentioned about LPP aren't affecting me at all, and I have a decent amount of widgets on every screen.

Most of all I love the transitions between applications (turning sideways for example). This is the one user experience I missed about my old 3gs. Overall I'm very happy 8.5/10

Looking VERY forward to root!

im having battery drain issues on mine, i woke up took it off charger, got to work, vibrate, and airplane mode (no signal in my office) i usually have either 100 battery or 90, now i have 80 at half the day.... strange. we will see what it is when i get home this afternoon

I charged before going to bed, woke with 90% and had 80% by the time I got off work, pretty normal for me. Didn't use my phone for anything other than checking the time tho. I have the extended battery.

The copy/paste works in the Gmail app. Not in texts, and I don't use the stock email app so I don't know about that.

Again, this is all non-text-entry fields. Copy/paste works normally in text entry fields.

For navigating around text, it's still not great but instead of that stupid red bullseye, they have a nice handle that extends below the text so placement of your cursor is much more precise.

ok, nice..thank you.

also, that bullseye has been the cause of much frustration over here..glad to hear that's gone.
