Root 2.3.3 Gingerbread Issues Thread

so far ive noticed the blue ghost boxes. and a lot of my widgets dont populate in the add feature. kinda pissing me off. smooth, fast and half assed. oh and the sync notification has been on for a couple of hours along with some squiggly lines to the right of the sync arrow/circle gimmick. was running apex 1.4.1 and was ok with that but people were raving about gb. and cant seem to get into clockwork recovery because of an issue with bootstrap yadda yadda yadda. any advice? I guess ill just deal with none of my favorite widgets....

the smell of disappointment and failure are in the air...

You do realize that this is a LEAK of an EARLY build of Gingerbread right?
Maybe it was things like this that got the thumbs down from VZW. Wait till the final OTA build, then start judgement

Yes, you have to use Droid 2 Bootstrapper to bootstrap into custom recovery on this leak of GB. Droid X Bootstrapper doesn't work. That's probably part of your problem... unless you're aware of this issue and are already using Droid 2 Bootstrapper that is.

Found an irritating bug. When I'm switch to wifi it goes from 4 final bars to 1, and status like that the whole time I'm using wifi. The second I turn off wifi it goes from 1 bar to 4. I missed a phone call earlier because of no signal.

It's not a bug. Voice is transmitted using 1X, not 3G, but the normal signal strength is displaying your 3G signal. When you switch to Wifi, it's showing you your voice signal strength. It does the same thing when you actually make a call.

Try it - make a phone call and watch your signal strength. The 3G signal will disappear and your signal strength will change.

When you connect to Wifi, it doesn't use 3G anymore, so it is displaying your 1X signal. Honestly, I can't remember if Froyo properly switched your signal strength when connected to Wifi. Might not have, which is why you're noticing it now - but it was very likely a problem before you upgraded.

So I was stuck at the Red M. I SBF .340, managed to boot stock ok. I root, installed dxgbrooted.zip. GB comes in good, all good so far, wireless internet works... nothing else. Can't receive calls, make calls at all, activating doesn't help. 3G areas & spots don't work no more, can't text, tried Home+power wipe cache, data/factory reset.
*288 Activating works and says it's activated... but still nothing, texts fail, and calls keeps giving me "message com" crap. incoming calls go straight to voicemail...

Ok thanks, I just tried that now.. and haven't seen no changes, I have called verizon yesterday, they said to activate online so I did, but the device was already activated it said. So yeah I tried this manually like these instructions you gave me... and still it's giving me the same thing, can't make a call...

Awesome explanation thank you, but I am sure this problem didn't exist before the flash.

Interesting. I'm wondering (and don't know) if Froyo properly displayed the 1X signal when you switch to Wifi. I don't remember ever seeing a signal drop when switching to Wifi, but I also don't remember looking for it.

Unfortunately, I'm not going to go through the SBF/test/re-root/re-upgrade to GB/reinstall apps process just to find out :D

Anyone with Froyo want to test this?

THIS is why I can't pull the trigger on flashing the dxgbrooted.zip

Well... I think I programmed *228 on a different carrier... because this verizon chick support said it's suppose to be a female voice programming etc. But this was a man's voice... soooo I think I programmed it to another carrier? weird, so she said I might have to take it to a verizon joint for them to flash it back... but can't I do that too myself? instead of taking it in?
Maybe another stock restore...?

I have the same prob. I went through and reinstalled all my apps and now it shows like 7 total out of 20+ Clearing the data and cache from market place used to work, all apps would show up next time you launched the market place.

Anyone else had issues with this?

Do a search on jrummy market fix. It is an app you install. Worked for me.

I downloaded the fix, how do you install it?

Also, having the LED problems since I flashed the rooted version of GB. Is there a fix, app or workaround for this? Or should I factory reset?

Thanks in advance.

Ok sorry if I double post, having probs with the internet...but I finally got help from verizon support with these same instructions with different numbers..but finally it works... thought my phone was completely gone.. :D

Now... to experience the GB...

OK, so, my market issues still persist. I've cleared its cache, fixed permissions with droid overclock, run market doctor in TIBU, and I still don't show all my downloaded apps. None of the ones that are there ever show needing updates even when I get the notification that updates are available. Would it be helpful at all for me to uninstall and reinstall the market?

I installed and ran JRummy's fix.apk and it worked for me.

Did you download and install the apps from the market originally when you installed GB, or did you use Titanium Backup to reinstall them?

I downloaded Easy Install from the Market and used it to install. I believe you can use Astro File Manager also.

Ok, apps that are not installed from the market will not show up in the market as installed, nor will they update. how did you get the APK file onto your SD card?

I didn't read where Easy Installer links the apps back up to the market like Titanium Backup does. if you want them to show up and update through the market, you will need to uninstall all of them that you installed with the Easy Installer app, then download them and install them from the market.
