Root 2.3.3 Gungerbread question

[missladyt2010]

I just bought an EVO and was unaware that it came with 2.3.3. In other threads I saw that the hboot had to be unlocked in order to root. I would like to know if the ROMS that are out now are compatible with 2.3 or wait.. when would it be unlocked?

I was wondering if you can flash a 2.2 stock ROM over an OTA 2.3.3. I haven't seen anyone ask this question before.. just so you can get a 2.3 ROM? Would S-ON affect that?

if you have s-on and you have the new hboot (2.16) from the ota then you can't flash down to 2.2. you have to s-off and a custom recovery to flash anything. believe me if that was possible then that would be big news. we would have stickies about it and many threads about it. unfortunately, as of right now, there is no exploit that has been found for the new hboot. just stay tuned to this forum. believe when root is found you will know.
