2.3.340 is here! Post your experiences

OK, maybe this will be helpful.

Software builds a version number by their vendor.

The Droid X update for 2.3.340 is a build number from the vendor - it is still Android 2.2 (probably 2.2.1 actually) - this is Froyo you have, not Gingerbread..

My phone's build revision is 3.29 - I am not running Honeycomb - I'm running Android 2.2.1 - still Froyo.

Hope this clarifies for you and cheers!

Wow, why? It only enhanced what you already had

If I'm calling someone from my contacts I will just go to contacts and call them. I don't dial their number. Now when I dial a number (one that's not in my contacts) I get a bunch of bullshit. I liked the big dialer because I have big clumbsy thumbs!

also, since the update i have had phone issues that i never experienced before. when i first boot the phone in the morning after being off and charging at night, i try and make a call and hear no ringing and can not hear the other person if it connects. if i receive a call (it rings) and i pick it up, i also can not hear the person. i reboot again and the problem disappears. happened both days since the "upgrade". this is not a fluke.

I have not seen that one, but I also don't turn off my phone at night. I do however have the phone set to turn off data and updates between 11pm and 6:30am.

Do you shut it down completely? I will try and see if I get that too. I reboot my phone manually about every 3 days. Question: After the update have you updated or added any new programs? maybe you need a update or 2, or you added a rogue program.

Exact same issues here. Reboots when disconnected from charger and today, it just rebooted out of nowhere. My phone before this was flawless, too, and never had a reboot.

Not happy.

I had that happen yesterday. did a battery pull. and it didn't happen today. Might be a fluke, but I also went 4 days of of charging off and on and never had that issue either.

Just updated mine. Went pretty smooth. I absolutely hate the new dialer!

I miss the larger buttons a little bit. But honestly I don't dial all that much and the recent call/number matches thing that it does now is kind of useful.

My screen lock slider was green before the update. Now it is black and symbols now look very basic. Anyone else notice this?

I'm still on 2.3.15. However I am rooted, and deodexed via 928Droid's Black Glass auto Deodexer with the theme installed. I downloaded the update, but I know for a fact it wont work. Can somebody please recommend an easy way to get to a point where the update will work for me? I haven't been on the forums in a while and I tried searching myself but its a bit overwhelming... I suppose I could sbf, but I dont know which one to use and I won't have a usb cable handy for at least a week.

My stock roms have always benn black with symbols. I do think its a touch lower now, but otherwise seems the same from what I can recall.

928 has a Back to stock flash you can get, provided you didn't delete programs off the phone, You might could use that to get the OTA after flash. otherwise I had to SBF.

meanwhile I think my battery life is a touch better than before, but hard to tell. And I haven't used media (music or video) on the device yet so more to come.

About to flash a rom anyway though.

I don't how common this knowledge is, apologies if it's already mentioned - often after an update if call quality or battery quality suffers, it might be a stale or outdated PRL (basically the list of towers to use for roaming, but a PRL update also updates the native tower list) coincident to (not caused by)the upgrade.

You'll find your PRL on a Droid X under settings, about phone, bottom of the list - I think on Verizon you can update the PRL dialing *228, option 2.

Again - apologies if this is old hat to you all. I update my PRL often (Sprint's in flux in my area) and am happier for it.

My dialer still uses the sensor 100%

This bug is really getting to me. I've tried everything. Still can't get it fixed. I don't remember having tips problem pre .340. Having to choose between rebooting my phone after every call or having the battery drain is awful. Hana. Only thing I haven't tried is a factory restore.

UPDATE: its the blur dialer. I switched to Rubix and haven't had the problem since.

So far I haven't experienced any issues post-update. Battery life *seems* to be better for me, and I'm glad the battery stats finally works all the time.

still, as of yet, in Tampa Bay FLA, "check for update was not available at this time, try again later" has not changed since 2.3

Stk phone, no changes, never rooted...

I had that problem awhile back until I went into settings, data manager, social applications, and made sure sync over wifi was not checked.

The images and text pixelate while scrolling. Most evident in Menu/Settings. While scrolling the text gets blurry/jagged/pixelated. Happens in Market too.

I thought rebooting the device would make it check the prl and update as necessary. I was always told that anyway. Maybe it doesn't work on smartphones.

IE every time it logs onto the network it will update cell listings and protocols as necessary.

If it does do that, so far as I know, it's only going to check revision numbers.

Last thing I want is to advocate that the sky is falling - but - many have benefited from PRL and profile updates following major updates - even when the PRL revision numbers haven't changed.

The theory on this I subscribe to is that it's entirely possible for some part of the information to get tangled - heaven knows we see all sorts of other things tangled on updates, so this is reasonable to me.

I don't own a copy of your (very nice!) Droid X headset, or I could offer more firsthand info for you.

Extrapolating from my own Sprint Evo plus others in the forums with non-HTC phones finding this fixes things caused me to suggest it.

(Being a red-name means I'm a kinda a free-ranging chicken exposed to a firehose of smattered info like this - it does not suggest I'm at all expert, tho.)

You sure? Why not? Clear your cache and reboot, then try.
Hmm.. how do I clear my cache?

thank you for assistance!

edit; ok, search is my friend, I found and did this; (power up while holding the home button), press search, then scroll down to clear cache ..

sadly, still no love.

I went in and checked this setting, it wasn't checked. I toggeled anyway, still nothing though.

I haven't noticed any problems with .340 and I have noticed a few minor speed improvements as well.

I wiped my phone with the .315 sbf and then upgraded to .340 then reinstalled apps/data.

Extra features I may or may not have noticed: the contacts list stays on the last position more often instead of resetting to A. Also, the last called number in the dialer is cute and sometimes useful, but the functionality of it is weird.

Turn off phone.

Hold Power and Home buttons down until Droid icon appears. Hit search button(it's the magnifying glass). Use the volume buttons to move the cursor onto Wipe Cache Partition-then hit camera button to select. After it's done choose reboot system. Try this.
