2.3.340 Never Received

If this has already been asked I do apologize. Has anyone not had the 2.3.340update pushed to their X nor have they been able to pull it? I am rooted by the Z4Root method and I have not deleted or frozen any of the bloatware. I did unroot even though I read you did not have to. So, I do not see why I have not received or been able to pull this update. Is anyone else in the same boat?

Are you looking for the update by selecting Settings>About Phone>System Updates ?

No this is not what I am looking for. I did say I was not able to pull this update. It is pretty obvious from my post I knew this already and I have tried this a thousand times. I am a bit insulted that my thread was pulled because of something just about everyone knows. This post should not have been moved. Read my post again and you will see you made a mistake. This has nothing to do with all things root.

Sorry you're offended, Jeff. Moving your post was meant to get you more help, not to offend you. If you would like to get it moved some place else, the procedure is to send a PM to a mod. Feel free. Good luck and best wishes to you!

Now this has become too much work. This should have been easy and this post should not have been moved. I will look for help elsewhere.

Let me just add that Steven is a guide (an excellent one that is); he moves threads as he sees fit and the whole staff trusts his judgement. He really does it to help others get answers to their queries. You were not happy with a moved thread: he apologized and even directed you to another solution.

Let me quote a part from your original post:

I am rooted by the Z4Root method and I have not deleted or frozen any of the bloatware. I did unroot even though I read you did not have to.

Now I think the reason as to why your thread was moved is pretty obvious. To be honest the thread would have been fit for both places and it being moved is no big deal really.

If you want to move on, fine, but it's no reason to act like this.

Also, I will leave this thread unlocked because you do not seem to be the only one with this issue.

OP, you need to relax.

are you sure you have Froyo OTA installed? You sure you're not on the leaked version right?

Please send screenshot of your status screen.

I can't update either. Also rooted via z4 and haven't removed any bloatware.

There are several posts in the root section with the same problem. I suggest you read them and see if they address your problem. Feel free to reply to any of them that best meets your problem.

Thank you for trying to help but none of these previous posts address this issue I am having. I cannot get the update at all. It is not a matter of starting to update and it fails, it is not a matter of how to unroot to get 2.2 as one post is about. It is about getting my phone to even recognize their is an update. My phone does nothing but state that no update is needed. I even called Motorola and all they would say is do not worry you will get it one day. But I thank you for trying.

I am sorry I got angry earlier. This is frustrating and I was looking for help and I stand by my thoughts that this post should not have been moved as it really has nothing to do with being rooted. I was just trying to paint the picture of my situation and answer any questions others might have had. Me getting angry was really no different when someone gets angry when they ask a question that was addressed somewhere else. It takes just as long to answer someones question as it does to tell them this was asked already and the should search better. None the less I was wrong and I should not have gotten angry. I do apologize.

OK, so now that everyone had a big group hug... <pukes>

Settings -> Data Manager -> Data Delivery -> Social Applications -> Sync over Wifi only
If this is checked you will not be able to update via push or pull.

Already checked that but thanks for the help.

Could you just download the update.zip and install it via clockwork mod? That's what I did when I got tired of waiting.

I believe you can update this thru Motorola's recovery as well.

Download update.zip to sdcard.
Boot into recovery:

  • With phone off, hold down "home" button and turn on power. Release buttons when screen flashes.
  • When the android guy appears, press the search button.
  • Use the volume up/down keys to navigate and camera button to perform selected task.
  • Choose "apply sdcard:update.zip", press camera button.

I will give it a shot. Thanks!

I tried it and the install would start and then abort a few seconds later each time I tried it. Thanks for trying to help.

Assuming you've always been stock (no rom or non-ota updates), you might want use RSD Lite to flash sbf to 2.3.15, then receive the OTA. It would be less work than a factory reset, which loses all your settings.

You are currently system version 2.3.15, right? (Settings... about phone)

I do not have any ROM's nor and non OTA updates and you are correct I am currently 2.3.15

When you were rooted...did you ever apply a Theme? You say you never had a ROM, but what about a theme? If so, which?
