Over the past few weeks, before the ICS update, I realized that the biggest consumer of battery power was the wireless connection. As long as I had it turned off when not actually using it, the batter would end the day with about 70 to 80% battery remaining.
I just upgraded both of our phones to ICS last night and I left the wireless on. As of now, about seven hours in, the batter is still at 87% which is a LOT better than it was.
One thing that seems critical is that you calibrate your battery as described earlier in the thread. If you don't do that, the operating system on your phone simply won't give you accurate information and likely won't allow you to use the whole charge on the battery either.
