Okay so I will post about the Gingerbread OS For the P500.

After making a worldwide tour of major carriers, LG Optimus One is about to receive its highly-anticipated Android 2.3 Gingerbread software upgrade. The entry-level handset has become one of the most popular Android devices launched by LG, with more than 2 million Optimus One smartphones sold worldwide, and the number is still increasing
The upcoming upgrade has been unveiled via LG Facebook official account, as the company vaguely stated that the update will be available in May, but no specific release date has been mentioned.

Actually, LG Italia just officially confirmed 2.3 will be available in July. They made a statement about it, among with a video.

This is pure BS. They keep delaying the update. I've received a direct response e-mail saying that it'll only be released in June, now I see this post point towards July. I'm betting they'll never release it so that they have another feature through which to sell newer costly models.

LG is forced too release a new update for optimus one because the problem with the 100% load of the processor with every touch of the screen,if not this can be named a factory problem and they ill need to change millions of optimus one,or give the money back.sorry for my bad english.

Note that this is a software system we are talking about. I personally make schedule for hardware/software system. No matter how you plan, there is always a few bugs that get through, some tester that goes ill for few weeks or general unplanned problem. You can plan tightly and overshoot the schedule. Or you plan with a lots of loose and then people work on something else because there is no rush, or you are late for market. Or you plan for a specific release date and leave the bugs in. I prefer LG not to release something with bugs for obvious reasons.

When it's released, how would you update it through the market? Just download and install... and let the phone do the rest? If that's the case that'd be awesome... I don't fancy plugging my phone into my laptop.

the update will be available only via lg pc suite.on lg cehia facebook page they said the update will be available in few weeks,or a month.on other lg facebook pages they said update will be released in Q3 of the year,or in autumn.so really nobody knows when exactly.

the update will be released this month,my source is lg facebook official blog.and will be released this month in all countrys

finally android 2.3 released in romania.they sended me an email and told me if i want to update to 2.3 now to send my phone to lg service or wait for 1 week more to update via lg update tool.

i updated too 2.3.3 is cool, run very well but still have few bugs.verison is v20g

I found a very annoying bug with the "proximity sensor".
After you call somebody, the screen stays off and you cannot hit the END CALL button.
Need to set the "power button ends call" options on the Settings >> Accessibility !
