Wow just got this update on my Sim free UK phone. Walked all over the house and including the end of the garden and could not get the WiFi to drop. Cant even do that with my lap top. Thank you HTC / Android

Bloody hell... even to the end of the garden!! Bet you're well happy with that then! :)

I don't even get WIFI upstairs in my house... I actually mean on my laptop (not so bad on my phone)... but then I haven't sorted my WIFI repeater out yet!

just use it as an access point. Setting it up as a repeater is a pain in the a$$ config wise and static channels are required for it to work properly (meaning, the wireless channel & the extention channel - if used - have to be set, rather than leaving it auto which most people do)

You can even leave the SSID name the same, since the way the 802.11 wireless standards work, the device will connect to the source that has the highest signal anyways. If the same ssid is used, and you move closer to the new AP, there'll be an 'error' with connection for a second up until the device does another handshake with the AP tied to the SSID so then it simply becomes a "which signal is stronger". If you're connecting many devices though, have seperate SSID's ;)

No, no, no... haven't made myself clear...

I have a wireless repeater that I've had for ages. Recently I changed ISP (to Orange) and have had a new router from them. I haven't changed the settings on the repeater yet (as I haven't been bothered).

The WIFI seems to work upstairs on my phone, but isn't very good on my laptop. Not really a problem, as I don't use my laptop upstairs anyway!!

oh, lol, I skimmed through the posts, saw 'repeater' and automatically responded. haha.

I try not to use Repeaters in any way, unless its for Industrial applications.

I know but, when I actually got the repeater, we were wanting to use the laptop upstairs and were finding that the signal just wasn't strong enough... my bro had a spare repeater, so gave us it - job done. Just not got round to sorting it since we changed ISP (not had time/need, as we no longer use the laptop upstairs)!

I am and have even discovered it works in my detached garage which is at the end of the garden. My laptop wont even work on the patio outside the kitchen door

I don't know if there's encountering same issue as mine.. After my phone got the update 2.50.405.2 my GPS can't establish connection though when im not updating the software information i can still use it... though after that update my wifi issue resolved it. But now I observe I can't use my GPS.. Is the other user experience this?

Thanks..

The fist time I tried to use my GPS after this update I could not get a fix. Did a reboot and all was well

I had this issue after updating, however I installed GPS Test, which has a option in Settings to "Clear AGPS" and then "Update AGPS".

After this, was connecting inside and outside within 20 seconds.

I've got a branded Desire HD on Vodafone and mine's well and truely not working anymore. Done a factory reset, battery out, reset GPS data & A-GPS assistance...and still nothing. Had it out in the open air for hours...zilch! Bloody annoyed!

is it possible to figure out the build date of the device? maybe by the serial number? I want to see if mine is from an old batch where the GPS is affected by hardware.

I'm unbranded and haven't noticed any change, for better or worse, in the performance of my GPS since the latest upgrade.

Even I cleared the cache of A-GPS and download again the data.. can't establish connection... If I will factory reset using the hard reset it will back again to its original setup wherein the setup is like the new since I brought it...?

Regards,

but i bought that with froyo which is 2.2 version... it will return to froyo or it will return after I upgrade to gingerbread...

originally I bought my phone with 2.2 version.. then when I open it and setup my phone after a few mins it connect to my wifi and asking for upgrade to 2.3 which gingerbread... so in this case... if I will factory reset my phone it will return after I update my phone to 2.3...

Thanks..
Regards,

Why does this update reset everything to factory settings with gingerbread.

I have lost all my contacts, apps, settings.. my modiefied themes everything :( :(

Is there anyway I can get back to my old setup :(

If it did that, there was a problem with the update.
