2 light scratches on the screen already...

 So I have been BABYING this Nexus S since day 1. I mean really being a complete wacko about it and I see 2 light, ever so noticeable scratches on the display. I dont get it. My iPhone 4 lasted from day 1 launch to just last week with no scratches what so ever and I was way beyond the "babying" stage and it takes all but less than a week for 2 light scratches while being EXTRA cautious? Ugh. So irritating. Invisible shield full body here I come. I mean really...

You can't have been as careful as you think: I never baby my phones, it goes into my pocket with keys and change with no case, and there's no scratches on it. None on my N1 either which got treated that way for almost a year.

Seriously its all BS with this Gorilla Glass, had my HTC EVO since launch, not one scratch, same with Incredible, iPhone 3G
3Gs, and 4, not one scratch. In comes the Samsung Fascinate with its Gorilla Glass, and after about 3 weeks of babying it and being super carful I noticed 2 hairline scratches on the screen. There is no such thing as being to careful, its all luck LOL.

Must notta been babying it enough, else you wouldn't have scratched it ;-)

Uh-huh. A friend of mine showed his Desire that he had for about a week, and said, almost in tears: 'look, I have 2 scratches already!' I said: 'well, what did you do with it?' He: 'I was really really careful! I only dropped it once!'

'Maybe that was the problem;)'

The NS does not have Gorilla Glass ...

I have a couple of faint imperfections around the device, I think as long as the screen looks presentable and the device works, its my device and it will not change the fact that it helps me almost every day.

I've been testing nexus s (2 months) and galaxy s (4 months) at the same time and getting the same level of abuse and I have to say the nexus screen has a lot of fine scratches on it and 2 bigger ones. The Galaxy S is as clean as a whistle, and Id say it got more of a hard treatment. A rub of a wipe and it looks new where as cleaning the nexus only highlights the scratches.

Is the Galaxy S screen made of better or different stuff ???

The Galaxy S has gorilla glass. That's why it is still perfect.

Gorilla Glass is just a bit overrated. I'm not putting it down, just speaking from a lot of experience. With some care I've not had a problem with any of my phones, with or without GG.

To the OP, sorry to hear of your misfortune. Unlike others I'm not about to suggest you weren't careful. It just happens sometimes.

I never use a screen protector because, for me it ruins the tactile experience. I dedicate a front pocket to carry only my phone in and that works for me.

My phone gets chucked around a fair bit, never bother with cases and screen protectors and have never had a problem with any of my phones.

You can be too careful.

My Galaxy S has gorilla glass

My Nexus S does not.

Side by side the only discernible difference is the obvious, the concave curve of the Nexus S glass.

Looks wise it's impossible (as least for me, and I have 20/20) to tell if any of them which advertise having GG, actually do. Four of my phones are equipped with GG and I cannot tell the difference.

So far I've resisted playing basketball with any of mine, so the stress test will be left for someone else to perform, I'm too chicken :D
