Root 2 questions regarding TwoPointTwo RLS5

Newbie
Rooted my evo for the first time last night with RLS5 using unrevoked3 and everything worked fine (from what I can tell). Found two problems so far though and was hoping someone could help me out as I think they're stupid questions..

First, how do I restore all the apps/contacts/etc I backed up before flashing the ROM? Every thread i've read simply says to open whichever program you used and hit "Restore," but I can't find any of those programs. Went to application, clicked SD card, no applications listed.. however, when I look at storage the same amount of memory is still used up on the sd card. So how do I access what's on it? (I wanted to be safe and backed up with My Backup, Titanium Backup, and through ROM Mgr Premium.)

Second, some of the apps that came with RLS5 such as Hulu and DSP Manager just show a white screen upon running. If you tap the screen, you can zoom in/out or hit menu and exit. Any idea what I did wrong?

Thank you in advance for taking time to help me. :)

1) I am pretty sure TB and MB are root only apps. IOW, you can't backup while you are still unrooted. I may be wrong here but don't think so. Also, with TB, you can only use the batch backup/restore oprion with TB Pro....the paid version. Otherwise, you will be backing up each app one by one.

2)I don't use DSP manager so I don't know. Hulu has issues with certain version of Adobe Flash. That is all I can say. I thought that Myn fixed this with rls 5 but people are still having issues. I don't know what else to say about that.

Sorry, should've clarified. I ran all three backups AFTER rooting. I did use the batch function to backup all apps with TB Pro. Either way, I still don't understand how to access everything on my sd card now...

you need to dload titanium, my back up etc from the market. then run the restore

for hulu and the other close them, then reopen. that worked for me. they are web based apps so if you have a slow connection it might take a minute to load. did you flash the seperate hulu app zip from recovery? (make sure flash is set not to auto update in the market first)

Maybe you are making something out of nothing. There is no need "to access everything on your SD card". You just do a batch restore via TB Pro. And don't forget to reboot after the restore function....a common omission and something I think causes bad feedback for TB Pro.

Just finished what you suggested.. download My Backup and TB Pro again from Market. Restored thru My Backup which didn't appear to restore any apps at all, restored thru TB which appeared to be working but Force Closed before it finished! Now I keep getting a FC message saying "The process com.google.process.gapps has stopped unexpectedly." I opened TB, went thru batch, restored user apps with data.. did i do something wrong?

Also read in other threads TB sometimes has problems trying to assert its saved settings on a new ROM once it's flashed, but I'm not really sure how to fix that..

Instead of "Check All" when restoring through TB, are there some items I should uncheck so the TwoPointTwo setting's aren't messed with?

Still hoping to get this answered if anyone can help. When using TB Pro to restore apps, I've noticed it's color-coded.. red, green, and white. Are there certain/colors apps that don't need to be restored? Is it safe to assume that any android process (android.whatever) doesn't need to be restored since it should already be in the ROM I flashed?

Also, yesterday the auto-rotate function decided to stop working. Doesn't rotate in gallery, browser, anything.. can someone please direct me to a fix for this?

Thank you.

Every single time I download TB I check'' problems" and download busybox. Do you download busybox enshrine you download TB?

I'm almost positive I did not do that this past time.. (i've gone back to stock and flashed the rom a couple times now trying different things). What are you saying that will help me with though as far as restoring apps/data?

From what I could tell, RED apps on the TB restore list were mostly android processes/services backed up from my original change to root, GREEN were almost entirely the apps I've downloaded to the phone, and WHITE was data like sms/mms/contact. Is that pretty close to what it will always be with TB? It is kind of annoying to have to go and select every green app individually tho..

I march through life ignorantly and it has served me well. I batch backup all apps+data. I batch restore all apps+data. I have no clue what the colors mean and why you must select them individually but you are obviously a more informed user than I am....yet my ignorance has served me well since the way I use TB Pro has served me very well. It is basically a couple of keystrokes for a btach backup and a couple for a batch restore. It does take quite awhile for both operations but it is simple and you can go take out the trash or something while it is doing ists thing.....

.....AND.....every single time I (re)download TB I press "problems" and download busybox.....EVERY....SINGLE....TIME....as well as reboot(hot restart is fine) after the restore function. Do I understand what busybox is doing??? Hell no. But I do this religiously and....VOILA....I have no problems.

hahaha ok. I've decided to invest the 60 seconds each time I restore apps by only selecting green (apps) and white (sms) items, which also cuts out five minutes of restoring time. Good investment :)
