Accessories 2000mah Andida battery

any new feedback on these batteries yet?

I got mine last Friday, been using it since and have not really seen any improvement over stock. I was averaging around 24 hours on Stock and I'm getting the same with the Andida.

I put these on a scale and the Stock battery is actually 1 gram heavier, not sure how they can claim 2000 mAh. But for $10, it's a good replacement.

I have been using these since I bought my Hero. (I had previously bought these for my TP2) I have 2 and I alternate them. I occasionally use the stock battery and I do notice it not lasting as long. The only thing I notice on the Andida batteries, is that the last 15-20% drops very quickly. But the first 75-80% last pretty long.

Got mine yesterday, charged it all night, unplugged it at 5am this morning, it is now 10:25 am and it is at 49% ?!?!? I'll run it down and do a few more charge cycles, but at this point I'm glad it was only $10....

edit: 15% warning at 11am. It dropped like a rock! All I've done today is maybe 3 phone calls, less than 5 minutes each, around 20 texts, and browsing this forum and xda. Nothing out of the ordinary showing in Spare Parts either.

Try charging it a second night. I have the andida battery. The first day, I barely got 12 hours out of it. After the second charge, i received 24 hours out of it. I'm still working on the charging and discharging of it ... I am following the Mugen battery initializing instructions. hope that helps!

you're email might be stuck updating constantly. it happens to me occasionally and drains the battery very fast. mine is at 52% now (4:46pm) and i took it off the charger from my first full charge last night at 10:00pm. restarting ur phone woulda cleared that up.

I ordered one of these 2 weeks ago, still havent gotten it yet (hopefully soon). I'm hoping that I can get at least a full day at work without having to recharge. At home I get great battery life but at work I'm stuck in a low signal area and that sucks my battery dry. Sometimes I have to recharge twice a day.

I wish there was a signal booster thing that actually worked. Not like those little plastic things you stick under the battery.

There may be somthing similar for an office or home based solution -

Cell Ranger: Boost your cell phone signal so you can stop dropping calls!

What does Mugen recommend? I have the Andida in my phone now and I'm hoping I got one of the good ones!

Aren't these Li-Ion Polymer batteries? I thought you didn't need to go through the full charge and discharge cycles like the old NiCad and NiMH batteries...

That should be correct. It is really odd that the manufacturers recommend the charge and discharge cycles. Deep cycling a a Li-Ion battery will always hurt its charge capacity a little bit. Usually when a manufacturer recommends to fully charge and discharge one of these batteries it is so that the hardware can recognize the low and high voltages of the new battery over time to more accurately estimate the percentage of charge left. My hypothesis is that they are recommending that people do this so that the phone will be more accurate immediately at estimating the batteries level, and this really has nothing to do with conditioning the battery.

A Li-Ion battery is happiest (read: mantains its charge capacity best) when kept at cold temperatures and around 40-50% charge...

In other words the things you should avoid doing to your battery at all costs are:

1. Never let it get hot
2. Never full discharge it
3. Never keep it continuously fully charged on the charger

I have lived hard by these simple rules for many, many years and have the empirical evidence to prove to myself that they work. ie. a 5 year, 1 month old treo 650 battery that still lasted much, much longer than my setcpu'd hero or people with newer comparable treos. A 4 year old HP 12 cell battery that is still good for 4.5+ hours on a laptop.

Friends with identical cellphones and laptop/battery combinations could never understand why my batteries lasted so much longer, I tried to explain, but they just didn't understand how big of an impact these things make a battery's charge capacity.

So, was it the phone or the battery which caused the Hero to take so long to charge the first night? Also, with each charge/discharge cycle, the battery took less time to charge AND lasted longer. There were many threads about people "conditioning" the Hero battery and finding greatly improved results

It was most likely the phone charging circuit not recognizing high voltage. These things are not that complicated. I stand by my statement that I think conditioning is rubbish.

What people are most likely experiencing with increased battery life after several charge cycles has nothing to do with the battery at all, but with the fact that it takes the linux kernel quite a bit of time to get all of the running processes sorted into the memory registers in the most efficient layout. This takes quite a bit of time (usually the course of several charge cycles) and thus once most of the programs that need to be executed and stay running: browser, messaging, etc. are nestled into memory and the processor is not constantly pushing data, the energy use goes down making battery power go further.

I stand by my rules:
1. Avoid your phone/battery ever getting hot
2. Never totally discharge your battery
3. Once your battery is charged fully, do NOT keep it plugged in.
4. Many shorter length quick charges from your USB on your computer will always be better for your battery than charging it from the wall and keeping it plugged in all day.

I do not make these rules, it is the physics/chemistry of this type of battery...

A second look at Spare Parts, does show mail fairly high up on the list of Partial wake usage, which is odd because its only set to check once a day. Which it does not seem to do so anyway. Today seemed a little better, but I wasn't using my phone as much.

Edit: aside from the mail issue (i deleted the account cleared everything and rebooted), still seems to do the same thing, hits 50% and takes a nose dive like -1% less than every 90 seconds. I also wiped the battery history through recovery when it was installed.....

that's terrible. perhaps you got a bad battery. do you have a task manager? maybe something else is running in the background. is your phone getting real hot when it drains? if it is, then its software that is causing the phone to drain fast.

on a side note, my andida seems pretty decent. i was never astute enough to be able to comment on how much better it may or may not be, but if this is helpful, my phone drained only 10% while standing by for about 7 hours over night. is that normal, or is that better?

I just bought one of these on eBay for my Hero. The # sold was going up every minute, had to before my chance was gone!

Any verdicts on the lasting-life of this battery? Is there a concencus on the initial procedures to follow upon recieving the battery to give it a good kick-start?

it seems to last a bit longer imo. as far as the first charge, i couldnt get an answer when i asked, but i did some research, and if you scroll up a bit (well after when i asked) there is good info.

basically its a li-ion polymer battery. you ought to charge it to full and let it run down to like 10-15% just once so that your phone can give an accurate readout of the batteries range. that's it.

i did that with mine, and it seems to work well. last night i left my phone unplugged from midnight to 7am, starting with a full charge it dropped 10%. i think that's better than what i was getting before.

These Andida batteries definitely have some more hair on them than the stock...I began using SEVEN again (which is keeping my phone awake 100% at least through the day) and I am able to still play with the phone making calls, web surfing, etc and have enough juice to last till late in the evening.

Ordered 2
One for me
And one for my brother

Hope it is better than stock.
But for $10 each
It could at least be a good backup

3 weeks
damn that is a long time.

update on mine. it's getting much longer battery life now. what used to drain down 10% over night is now draining less than 5%. i sleep 7 hours a night. my phone was dropping 10% standing by over 7 hours, and last night it dropped less than 5%. part of the reason might be cuz it was cold last night though.
