Accessories 2150mah Extended Battery + Case

2150 battery update 1: Unplugged it off the wall 2 hours ago. Made a few phone calls.. GPS and Bluetooth running. Received emails etc. Battery STILL AT 100%.

Thats what i'm talking about, gotta get this thing.

Pretty cool way of accommodating the 2150 battery in a case.. I will try and do this on the silicone skin fit .. I think this should work.

HTC 2150 + Dremel + VZW Red Case - xda-developers

He's got a thread w/ pics in here to.

Update 2 with 2150mAh Battery: Without charge about 15 hours. Percent Remaining 52%. GPS, Bluetooth always on. About a dozen phone calls during the day.. downloaded a couple of apps from the market.. used google navigation for about 30 minutes total.

This battery is definitely a keeper.

Beautiful

@gidget: Maybe it'll get better after a few more charges. I am using the battery my phone came with and before I had to put my phone back on the charger around 6-7pm when taking it off at 7:30am. After a week of charging and "topping off" the battery, I can go the whole day and still end with 30-40% charge left with moderate use.

I'm hoping there'll eventually be a case that will fit with this battery. I'm leaning more towards this vs the Seidio's simply because I feel Seidio's seem overpriced.

Sounds like gidget needs to look into WHY her's is draining so fast, might be an app causing the problem, (task killer), there are plenty of people getting her results w/ the Stock Battery. That just doesn't seem right

pro tip: the case for the extended battery can hold 2 of the normal sized batteries if need be. thus right now i have two 1500 mah batteries in the case while my extended battery charges

agreed! only i cannot figure it out. i'm at up time of 7:46:38 and awake of 1:50:18 and 53%. use:

android system: 32%
cell standby: 29%
phone idle: 23%
display: 12%
camera: 4%

i've been killing and uninstalling apps that seem to always show up as running, like tunewiki and car locator. those are now gone. i never play any games, i do very little browsing (i looked up one link from a mail message today and read the article, that's it). i do have quite a few widgets: htc date/time, genie news (which finally started working again today, tg), friendstream (fb only), pandora/last/music (but they are not running, they are just sitting on the page), huffpo, and stock calendar. i've got the aquarium live wallpaper, but it never shows up in my battery usage, or when it does, it is always at like 2%.

these are all things that i really enjoy, they are part of the phone experience for me, so if it means that i have to have this large battery and that i have to then recharge this thing twice a day, i guess that's just the way it will go. it's not the biggest deal, but i just wish i could get the type of battery use others have seen. oh, well. maybe for the way i am using it, this is good battery? sigh.

Update 4: 27 hours since last charge.. battery at 43%.. gps and bluetooth on.. used the phone on day 2 only for a phone call or two. It was NOT powered off for the night.

so something is REALLY wrong on my end. i'm at 41% right now after not quite 9 hours. with the 2150 battery. i just deleted a ton of programs and got rid of some widgets. uninstalled my aquarium live wallpaper. now i'm really sad, and my battery is still draining. we'll see if this helps at all. i have no idea what to do at this point.

Just got my 2150 and I am charging the beast right now. Pics do not do this justice. You need to get up close and personal with this bad-ass battery.

My phone drops to 90% battery in the first 15 minutes just like the original battery. Is this something to do with the phone not letting the batteries really fully charge?

For those tracking number - 2h30min and i am sitting at 87%, all I have done is send a few texts.

I managed to cram mine into the soft silicone Verizon case after slitting the back to let it stretch out over the "hump" without deforming the rest of the case. Punched a 1/16" hole with a cork borer at each corner of the hump and then slit top to bottom between the edges of the holes on each side. It is very difficult to get neat looking results but at least the front and sides sit OK and the back is protected except for the two 1/4" gaps on the sides of the hump. (I was going to try the Dremel mod but was disappointed in the hard case, and worried about the HTC logo on the battery cover catching on something and ripping off as some folks have reported.)

PS: 78% at 10:37 up time, but haven't used it much today.

Pictures? I'd love to see that. I'm considering a soft silicone case, although I really wish the hard silicone case would fit.

I'll try to upload one in the morning (oops, afternoon. Going out of town in the morning) when my brain is less fried and I can I figure out how this site prefers it to be done. :)

(Hmm, battery reads 39% at 15:21, dropping faster since I came home where the signal is lousy)

Update: phone last charged 36 hours ago. Still on the first charge for the new battery.charge at 21%. Bluetooth and gps always on. I use least 30 mins of navigation a day. Overall slightly above moderate usage. Very impressive!

I took my battery off the charger 4hr and 30 mins ago and its still sitting at full charge! I actually like the form factor of the phone...it cradles nicely in my hands. The only issue is the lack of a case. Maybe I'll try the dremel tactic.

edit: It's 730 on the east coast now. My phone has been going strong for 12 hours and has 50% charge left. So, extrapolating from that I should be able to get a good full 24 hours with this. I've been using it pretty heavily today, too. Testing out new apps, playing games, surfing the web for about 4 hours, making phone calls etc...So, I'm VERY happy with this battery. Now all I need is to not drop it!

Here's my case mod (thumbnail should be clickable):

I'm not altogether satisfied and may pick up a knockoff case to try and do a better job. But at least my Dinc has some protection.

Hey I like that!

What did you do? Just took a razor to the sides?

Were you the one who mentioned drilling 1/16" holes at each end, then cutting from one hold to the other?

I would be ok with this case. Where did you get your skin?

I'm not posting my stats because I'm too lazy but 10 plus hours unplugged, 2 hours awake time and I'm at 83%.

Yeah, this extended battery is truly what it should have come with (capacity-wise, not design-wise).

I am at 22% and I took the phone off around 10 am I think and have had Sirius radio on for at least 40 min, talked for over 1.5 hrs, had the nav on for 20 min, texted a lot but haven't browsed. I've had WiFi on for at least half the time.

Superb battery life now. I just have a slight creak in the lower right of the case (if facing the front of the phone). It's like there's too much empty space between the back and the phone chassis. Annoying, but whatever.

I need a good case. Wish Innocase Active would be made for the HTC extended battery.

I got a batt from bidallies and want to try that out next. Still might get the Innocase Active but I'm loving the hard silicone case from VZW. Wish I saved $5 and got it from Amzer.

I ordered mine today. I jumped in this thread early on and forgot about it until after I ordered mine today. NOW that I've seen the pics . . . yikes. I will likely refuse the package. I'd like to order the Seidio 1750 but . . . did anyone ever settle that "Liar, liar pants on fire" issue with that batter? :( Come on . . . isn't there a battery option that will power my phone without looking like it came from Notre Dame or lying to me like a school girl in the back of a car on a Friday night?

Same here man, we need a mod for this now too! Haha.

Battery life has been superb so far! Very happy with it!

I just got my 1500 mAh battery (OEM). I will test it out and assess after a few cycles. I don't like that I don't have a case to use with the extended battery.

If the 1500 battery life seems good, I'll get a second one and think about returning the extended to VZW; not because the battery life is bad, I just like the ability to use a case. Plus, I'm looking at the Innocase Active. If that's a good case, I'll get that, give back the extended battery, and get a second 1500 mAh battery.

The Innocase Active + 1500 mAh (2nd one) come out to the same price as the 2150 mAh battery.

I like my hard silicone skin but it doesn't feel protective enough. If the Innocase Active doesn't have an extended "lip" to hamper using buttons at the edges of the screen, I think I'll get it.

2150 mAh battery life, I repeat, is phenomenal.

well, i think either my battery is acclimating or taking some of my widgets off (i only took off 2 of many) and removing my aquarium live wallpaper must have done the trick. i did not charge the phone last night. i'm at 23:52:28 up time and 2:31:05 awake time, and 40% of the battery is still left. that is none too shabby, my friend. it's still not the super amazing long life that some people are talking about, but with using google navigation a couple times yesterday, checking email, sending texts, taking a bunch of photos, and refreshing many widgets, i'll damn well take it. this is exactly how i wanted my phone to work. hopefully the battery will still improve a bit over the next couple days. but for now, i am very happy. thanks for everyone's help on here.

Thanks! :) It's the Verizon soft silicone case - looks blue in the photo but actually it's purple. Not my favorite color, but with the Dark Candy version of the Plasma live wallpaper it's OK. Better than lime green which was the only other color in stock...

Yes, I used a razor blade and straightedge. You need round holes at either end of the cut or it'll start a runaway tear. It helps to put something roughly Dinc-shaped inside the case to make it hold its shape and serve as a backing when you cut. To make the holes, I used a 1/8" laboratory cork borer, but any piece of metal tubing with the end filed sharp will work.

Next one I do, instead of making a long oval hole on each side, I'll just make one cut per side to join the inside edge of the end holes. Then there will be a short wide flap butting up against the side of the hump, and no material will be removed except from the end holes.

I can't picture that for some reason.

What would be the benefit of this design v2 ?
