$299 for this phone? Destined to fail.

Seems until 28nm LTE chips are available in mass quantities, everyone is probably on the same level. The smaller fabrication is not expected in mass volume until spring 2012.

This is actually wrong. Qualcomm's own roadmap states that 2nd gen MDM9615 28nm LTE chipsets are due end of Q3 2011. Mass production in 2012, but that doesn't mean that first devices won't have it this year.
I have a feeling iPhone 5 may have early access to this chipsets since they simply can...

I think that means first phone will be on market 2012... They prob mean that the chip set will be finished in terms of design, product testing and will be finalized by end of 2011. Obviously phone manufacturers will get their hands on it so they can design their phone around it.

If they arent mass producing it, there will be no phone with it... period.

You got to realize it's 2nd gen LTE phone that's taking a while to come out. It has nothing to do with other manufacturers developing, releasing dual core/first gen LTE phone this year. Bionic is also 1st gen LTE phone that took long for Moto to develop their own LTE chip.

Hmm? i am just saying that when they say new LTE chip will be done by 2011 and mass produciton by 2012.

They simply mean that they will be finalized with the design and ship out the parts to manufactures. but wont have enough to put new model of phone with it.

That's not my point. What you are saying is only about 2nd gen LTE phone. Even Moto won't get that this year. Samsung, HTC, LG all have their 1st gen LTE chips to make dual core LTE phone this year. Anyway you don't seem to believe that. I will let you know when one of theirs hit stores soon after Bionic.:)

..... What are you talking about. when did i say Bionic will have 2nd gen chip? I dont understand why you are trying cause a trouble dude....

I was simply saying that THERE will be no 2nd gen chip this year.

Oh. sorry for mistaking your post because you didn't mention 2nd gen...

That is my point. Mass production is next year. Phones getting the tech also have a leadtime before a device hits the street for sale.

I think this idea has been fully hashed now. Even if the chips are finalized by the end of Q3, it's going to be very hard to make and sell a phone with a chip that is not yet being mass produced.
