Root 2nd Battery

I bought a second battery to use when my main battery dies on my X, however it isn't a genuine motorola battery my phone won't recognize it. The phone will run on it, however it won't show me the battery level or let me charge it in the phone. I recently rooted my phone and wondered if there is an app that will make my think the battery is real, or at least give me the battery level.

Been down this road and did ask for Scary Aliens input. The aftermarket batteries didn't have a "chip" that monitors temp and discharge. This was OK prior to the update to 2.2 Included in the 2.2 update was code to not allow batteries without this capability to work. I have heard (take that for what it's worth) that Motorola was tired of replacing units due to batteries overheating, etc.

You can now find (EBay) aftermarket batteries with the correct chip. They advertise these as 2.2 compliant.

Oh okay, thanks I'll probably just end up buying the 2.2 compatable one if it could overheat. Thanks for the information!
