3.7" > 4.x" ?

everyone around here uses a belt holster/clip so maybe minority in ur area not here tho. and i went into radioshack today and compared incredible next to evo, evo isn't much more then maybe 1/2 inch bigger overall

Inc's 3.7 screen its narrow, so surface area is too small. Everything is tiny. 4.3 is perfect.
That's why EVO is more popular.

How exactly is the EVO more popular? Please explain because the incredible has been back ordered since release day and can almost guarantee that it has sold more phones and is still in higher demand then the EVO

Just got my hands on an EVO, and yeah, it's a pretty nice looking device. A little fat. But the screen...!? I mean the size of this thing is a little ridiculous in my opinion. The Inc is a good size bigger than my last phone (ENV2...stop laughing), but I couldn't imagine carrying around that EVO in my front pocket. Now buy a case, and you might as well buy a purse with it. I'm just saying, 3.7 for a screen is about my limit. I'm not a tight jeans wearing type of guys, but in a pair of slacks or my Levi's the Inc takes up all the realestate without looking like I'm happy to see everyone.

Wish your Inc had a bigger screen? Thoughts?
I came from the EnV2 as well.

I'm fine with the screen size as is, just wish i could take up more space on the screen i.e. icons and edge to edge widgets etc

Even if Evo is more popular. Its not solely based on screen size at all... its been pushed hard by Sprint and it had a lot of buzz cause its running on a 4g network.

I'll be boring and say they both are great phones, and I had a tough time deciding between the two. Loved the smaller form factor of the Incredible and that lovely AMOLED display, but also really liked the extra size screen of the EVO for every day use, despite the less modern screen technology (it's still very crisp and clear). Though noticeably bigger than the Incredible, I'm glad at least they kept the EVO slim, and made sure that big screen fit right up to the edges of the bezel so though it's larger, it doesn't feel over-large and keeps it fairly sleek, if that makes any sense.

I'm just happy we have such great Android-based phones available these days, and yet more to come to give us all phone envy within a month or two!

I really think the EVO looks fine. I just wouldn't want a screen that big because it's kinda bulky. Gimme something slightly in between and I'm happy.

I saw a lady on the subway with an EVO this morning. She couldn't type with one hand and could barely scroll the thing. (for me), the EVO is wayyy too big.

Incredible all the way.

I think 4" is really the max screen size that can strike the balance between size and maintaining good, one-handed ergonomics of a phone.

The DI looks fine to me. I'd like to see the Galaxy S when it comes out, just to compare. I do think the EVO is too big, but only barely so. I'd rather see the Super AMOLED display.

I really dont think these 4.3" phones are that big. I am not a bigger guy by any means, my brother-in-laws EVO has fit in all of my pockets I have tried, jeans, shorts, etc... I mean they fit in my fathers freaking Levis without a problem. I mean if they can fit it that, I don't know why people say they cant put it in their pockets.

My problem with the Evo is it is too big to be a phone and too small to be a media player/tablet. I think the Dell Streak is more or less meant to be what the Evo was going for - the phone is a addition, not the main design for the product.

I haven't held an EVO yet, but for me, if I lost the ability to type or swype with one hand, I'd think I'd miss that

My friend got the HD2 and I was playing with it for an about an hour before she took it back; after a few minutes with it, it doesn't even seem that big anymore. Now, I was only using it browse the web, mess with apps and watch movies, but I think it'd be great to have a screen that size.

But only if I had a purse to store it in. The DInc's size is better than me cause it'll actually fit in my pocket. If I was a woman however...

Did you actually try to put it in your pocket? Because I know a few people with the HD2 and they easily fit in their pockets. But then again thats what the belt holsters are for

Nope. Screen is so much larger, but the phone itself is not. That's not really debatable. Top and bottom bezels on the Inc are such a waste of space.

Everything is debatable, and though you may not, I see a noticeable difference in size between my inc and an evo. Subjective, yes, but debatable. God bless the USA.

And about the EVO fitting in your pocket, maybe I did use a little bit too much hyperbole in my original post, but I didn't mean to make it sound like it was a 43" lcd tv. Yes, it's possible to fit the phone in your pocket; and yes, it's possible to carry around. I just wouldn't want to.

no it isn't...I'd argue that the screens should be compared by diagonal (4.3 to 3.7, so the EVO is 15% bigger) while the phones itself should be compared by area (12.48 in^2 to 10.6375 in ^2, of 17% bigger). So no, the phone itself is larger, but the screen is not :) . (ok, so it's basically the same ratio, I'm just giving EVO a hard time).

And it's not just fitting it into the pocket. Once it's there you need to actually pull it out. For me, the EVO is too big...but that's just me.

I am a woman and will be looking at a larger version of the DI when it's time to upgrade. Don't get me wrong... I LOVE my Incredible and everything about it! However, I carry a purse that has room enough for the kitchen sink and, even though I have my phone in a smaller pocket in my purse, I would love something that was big enough that it didn't slide to the bottom. Also, my son has the Motorola Droid and his feels so much more substantial than my little DI. I prefer NOT to put my Body Glove case on my phone because it's so much easier to wipe the fingerprints off it, but it just doesn't feel solid w/o the case on. I'm scared to death my cat might knock it off the table and it would break into a jillion pieces!

Anyway, back to the point, I most definitely will be looking for a slightly larger phone when the time comes. I wouldn't if I kept my DI in my pocket, so I completely understand what you guys are talking about though. A larger phone wouldn't work for my husband either. But for us gals with mongo purses, bigger is better. :D

Oh, one more thing... I will NEVER switch to AT&T or Sprint, etc. just because I like one of their phones. I've been a Verizon customer for almost 20 years and will stay with them no matter what. Verizon has cell service in remote places here in Oregon that the others only dream about, so my future larger screened phone will have to come from Verizon.
