3500mah battery for hero

I think he is saying it's ugly cause it's black... I still dont' really understand their reasoning behind making a black case other than, it's cheaper and easier to make. That's my take on it. I also wish they would some how cover the damn lense of the camera... Yes it's nice there is an alt for the battery issue but I think if the would have waited another month or even longer they'd have more people wanting to get it because it was color matched to the phone...and not some generic looking thing stuck to the back of the phone.

oh well. The other link posted I think looks better for the extended battery as well, also wish they would have a protective cover for the camera lense... manufactures are getting cheap lately...hahah

The clip holster from Seidio will fit it perfectly, and it will cover the screen while it is clipped for protection. Perhaps not ideal if you don't like clips/holsters, but they are well designed, and well built, if you just want something. I think the run 20-30 bucks. Check their website.

I don't think the holster works with the 3500mah battery. All other products that have a large capacity battery that work with the clip state to that effect, they don't mention it at all on the Hero listing, only that it is compatible with the innodock.

did anyone try or has heard of just the extended life battery that doesnt add any thickness? im considering this cause i really enjoy my phone. also can anyone post more pics of the phone with the extended battery and back so i can get a better idea? this is my first post on here i just got my hero like a week ago! thanks!

You can get 1750 and 1800mah batteries (stock is 1500mah) that don't add thickness from the same suppliers already mentioned in this thread. To get any more capacity than 1800mah right now requires adding bulk to the phone in the form of a deeper replacement back.

Ok. Here is my Seidio story (so far).

Ordered it straight from Seidio on the 6th. Received it on the 11th.

My opinion without exact measurements:

The new back is about twice the size (front to back) as the original backing.

I purchased the silicone cover for my Hero and it DOES NOT fit with the new back.

I do agree with others who have said that with this new size dimension, it does feel "better" in the hand.

I just got my 3500 in and before I put it on the charger I put in my phone so I could test it with the holster that I have. I bought the innocase/spring holster combo. While the innocase won't fit, the phone does fit into the holster with the extended battery installed.

So Should I charge the battery the full 8 hours before using it or drain it first. I just received mine today. Thanks

its saying 99% and its been on an hour. I dont want to over charge it

I purchased this battery from mobilecityonline. I got it in yesterday (they waited 6 days from the day I ordered before they shipped it . . . there is no excuse for such slow service).

I immediately started it charging and removed it from the charger at 100% (green light) around 5pm yesterday (but definitely wasn't 8 hours). I wanted to see how long it would take to completely kill the battery. It died just a few minutes ago at 12:30pm (less than 20 hours). I was really trying to use all the features to make it do that, but that is certainly not the experience of others I don't think. Others seem to have gotten that thing to last much longer . . . even with heavy use. I was hoping for better than that, but I guess it'll have to do.

Should I have left it charging for longer even though it had a green light?
Should my experience improve as the battery "conditions"?

What about the fact that this extended battery cover does not have a lens cover for the camera? I take pics with my phone and can only imagine how crappy they will look after only a few days of getting dust on the lens.

My Review, so far:

I charged my phone for the 8 hours. I took it off charging at 10:00 pm last night. I turned everything on (high brightness, GPS, wifi, changed all my stuff to update the fastest it could, even added battery draining widgets to my home screens). I have been giving it heavy usage (pandora, web browsing, texting like crazy, games .....) and it is now 12:40pm next day and I am at 50%. So that's about 15 hours.

Before the battery I had to have everything turned down and basically never use my phone. I do notice that it does drain about the first 20% quickly. However, once it gets down to about the 50ish range it idles there for a LONG time. I would have NEVER experienced these results with the stock battery

As for the cover and added bulk. I like it, (that's coming from a girly girl as well) its really not bad at all. I used to constantly have trouble holding the phone while using and I have tiny hands. So as previous posters have said, the added bulk does feel good. Just the black color of the backing is ugly. I do hope they make a matching back soon, since this product is excellent!!
This battery is awesome and I can't wait to see the results after battery conditioning.

You should find that you need to condition the battery for about a week before you get all of its benefits.

It is perfect for those days where you get heavy use while away from home and you need it to work at midnight without worry.

Also, the texture of the new back plate is much better for holding the phone while typing.

Today was a moderate/light use day and I am at 86% at 6pm , about 10 hours use. Hard to beat that.

For those with the Sprint Hero how about some pics with the battery installed :) and the different clips and "sleeves" you have handy ?

Here is my 3500 update.

Same usage on my phone as I did with the stock battery.

The way that I use my phone (light to moderate usage) the phone would go into the red at 14 hours.

I got the 3500, have charged it up once and I am now on the first cycle.

It has been 24 hours since the first charge and I am now at 49%.

I have had my phone off the charger since yesterday morning. I have left the 3G connection on and the location on including the gps. I have weatherbug updating every 2 hours. Yesterday and today I made some calls, moderate texting and heavy internet use. I am still at 40% battery. My first impulse was to throw it on the charger but you have to remember that 40% of 3500 is still 1400 so I is almost like starting with the stock battery in an fully charged. The only issue I seem to have is that the battery cover on mine slides off too easily.

Just bought the Mugen battery package off eBay. I had an eBay shoppers coupon worth $12.80, so the battery cost me 77.19. I figured I'd pay the extra $17 over the Seido battery, as I like the looks of the Mugen back cover - it looks more like an original cover to me.

Will take pics when it gets here, and let you all know how it performs....

yea someone must have it. I want to see

Here are the pics, and a short review so far.... as the directions stated, I charged the battery for the full 12-hour period, and the first day I got a little over twelve hours before having to recharge. I recharged for another 12-hours, and have now been going for TWO days, and 3-hours!; with 23% battery life left, according to my Power Manager Pro app.

Cover looks like it was made by Google in my opinion, and has a smooth, soft feel to it. The color matches the original case. The only downside I've experienced so far is the side volume bar is not as thick as the original, and is a little harder to to turn the volume down (you can see the difference in the first photo). Turning up the volume is a bit easier because there is a small dot on that end. No clear plastic camera lens protector in the case, but because of the recessed area, it should be OK.

Width of the phone with the new cover is 13/16". (Actual cover height is 9/16" - the old cover is 5/16")I like how thin the original cover was, as I like to carry my Hero in my pocket, but the new cover doesn't feel that much larger, and is a bit easier to hold when talking. I like the feel and "heft". Am going to wait until it gets down to the last bit of life before recharging. The instructions recommend the battery being fully charged and discharged 3-to-5 times.

Just to let you all know, I'm not a heavy user, and don't have wimax on, or do a lot of texting, or run a lot of battery-draining programs. Once I have the battery "conditioned", I'll start pressing it more to see how the long a charge will last. But, at least now I'll be free of the A/C plug every 6-to-8 hours! Plus, I now have the original battery as a back-up. Nice!

I'll do a follow-up in about a week on continuing performance...

OK, here are the pictures....
