Help 3G/4G Toggle?

I just used the app "AnyCut" you just go to activity and its the last CDMA option available, alphabetically. Its a two click process but works perfect and quickly

Menu>settings>wireless&networks>mobile networks>you can switch between cdma/lte and cdma only (one being 4g and the other 3g)

not quite as handy as having a toggle switch/button but still, no need for a separate app

Thanks for the replies. I knew you could go thru the settings menu to turn off 4g, but was hoping for a simple toggle or widget like I have for GPS or WiFi.

It would be nice, i'm thinking i'd rather use toggle switches then pull notification bar down to turn stuff off and on....

Not a true "toggle", but Elixer 2 widgets has a widget you can use that takes a few steps out of the process. Just hit the widget and then you use the drop down and select what you want.

Thanks but I think AnyCut does the same thing. That was suggested earlier.

I use LTE Switch by geoffrey buttercrumbs, it takes you straight to the cdma/lte cdma only settings. Not sure if it works on The Rezound though.

If there is no 4G in my area should I switch to cdma only ? Does it make a difference ?
I have mine on CDMA only, not in 4g area. I think it would keep searching for a 4g signal with it left on, in turn killing your battery. If I'm wrong please correct me.

Anyone try this?

Definitely will use less battery if you put it on cdma ONLY mode.

Works on the Rezound. Takes you straight to the settings. But not the settings you see when clicking the settings icon.

I have been using "LTE OnOff - HTC Thunderbolt" by Cunning Logic. It is free and it works great on the rezound. Not a toggle though. Just hit app and then has drop down window to select network choice. It definitely improved my battery life.

Update: I just installed LTE Switch by buttercrumbs and they are exactly the same on the rezound except for the app icon.

Just go to settings and power and change it from "Performance" to "Normal".

I'm definitely a newbie lol :). I was toying with my new phone and set it to Economy. I thought I can save some battery/power. So earlier today I was everywhere looking at it say 3G and wondering why it doesn't say 4G LTE anymore. I just got the phones yesterday and it was fine then :)

This is one of the reasons I was asking above which setting are affected by those battery presets. I am pretty sure that one of the things that economy does is shut off the 4g antenna. I would rather manage individual settings myself, so I'm staying away from those presets.

i use an app called "LTE OnOff" And it 1 click takes you to a screen of options between:

1. 4g only
2. 4g & 3g (CDMA)
3. 3g (CDMA)

I chose this because i read somewhere, using 4g only as opposed to using the setting where it's 4g default and searches for 3g when 4g is no longer available, is the same as using 3g only in terms of battery usage.

can anybody confirm if this is true?

While we're discussing toggling, when does it seem like most people are actually USING their 4g? Just when downloading from, say, the Marketplace or while watching videos?

The concept of 4g is awesome, but I'm wondering if it's worth bad battery life if people don't really even use it.

I leave 4G on constantly. I also have an extended battery so take what I say with a grain of salt. Why wouldn't I want to leave 4G on? It's like saying turn off 3G and sit in CDMA 1x if you're not using data...

It speeds up any browsing you do pretty significantly. Also if you do any tethering it's very noticeable, since 4G is as fast as your typical high-speed connection, while 3G is much slower by comparison.

I leave my 4G on all the time too, but I have performance set to "normal", and then I re-set auto-sync manually. I also have an extended battery, but it only gets down to 70% or so by the time I get home from work. Down into the 60's by the time I put it on the charger for the night. I'm on wi-fi at home, but 4G all day at work.

So, even a battery with 60% of my capacity (that is, the stock battery relative to the extended battery) would still have plenty of juice to last all day, with 4G active all the time.

Now granted, I'm not using it heavily at work either- Just keeping up on personal e-mail and lunch-time browsing, typically. And then some tunes as time permits and the mood strikes- Either Slacker or playing from the phone's memory.

Of course, 3G is plenty fast for most purposes, realistically, so there is something to what you say. An Incredible 2, for example, or iPhone 4s, is still a great phone even without 4G. Those also give you some international capability that you don't get with the LTE phones yet, and if you're the type that would usually roll with 4G off to same battery, yes, you can save battery and cost by just going with one of the top-tier non-LTE phones.

I downloaded the app, but I get 9 different options when I click on "Preferred Network Type (WCDMA preferred, GSM only, WCDMA only, CMDA auto (PRL), Global Mode, CDMA+LTE/EvDo auto, GSM + LTE/WCDMA auto, Global LTE mode and LTE mode (w/voice)). Any way I can limit the options?
