Help 3G disconnects until phone reboot

Anyone else having the problem with 3G disconnected and not reconnecting unless you reboot the phone? It seems to happen about 1/4th of the time whenever I go through an area with no signal. The only way to get it to come back is to reboot the phone. Sometimes you can put it into airplane mode to get it back but usually airplane mode will lock up the phone causing a reboot anyway.

I've only encountered this issue with the new radio/froyo update.

If airplane mode is causing your phone to lock up, something else is definitely wrong. Remove any new apps, and possibly consider doing a backup and factory reset.

It doesn't actually freeze per say, it just doesn't go into airplane mode and the option to toggle it greys out until you reboot. I know of 1 other person having a similar issue since upgrading.
