ok so i got sprint evo 3g and d/l a app called OPENSIGNAL and its telling me i am on a tower marked EVDO A thats not a 3g tower is it ??? should say winmax or something how can i test to be sure so i can bitch sprint out

Download speed test and run a couple of tests and post your results. That will tell you if you are on 3g or 1x.

I think he's saying that he's not getting 3g and wanted to make sure the tower was 3g capable since the area map says 3g is available. Speed test would only verify the fact that hes not getting 3g...
Correct me if i'm wrong.

Edit: judging by the lingo, I think hes actually talking about 4g.

EVDO is 3g, it is just the type of 3g Sprint uses, mainly you have two types of 3g EVDO and HSPA. Sprint and Verizon uses EVDO and ATT and T-Mo use HSPA. Just like you have different 4g networks (ie. WiMax and LTE) you have different 3g networks.

thats what i needed to know i do speed test alot and i am lucky if i get .50 most days i get like .25 or .34 the other day got -1mbps lol not sure how that work with 3g

I have yet to find an accurate signal/tower map. Have you contacted sprint and givven them the address where you experience this 3g issue? I have not had 3g at work since last june. Unfortunately all they could do is verify 3 down towers....it has never been fixed.
