Help 3G issues, not connecting

Ok, I have a question about the LG O1, a friend of mine bought the same phone in the mobile service provider, Movistar, I bought it in some other place. For some reason his phone can connect perfectly to 3G network, while mine does not. I have never rooted the phone, so I am wondering if this issue regarding a SIM CARD problem, or the phone itself? could it be the firmware has something disabled?

I have tried anything so far, network settings, APN configurations, etc... I know its not something related to a coverage area because my friend and I, have been on the same place and while we both get a full reception, he gets 3G but I only get EDGE. :/

Is there a solution to this, before I take it to the mobile service provider.

go to settings > wireless > mobile net.. > network operator > select manually
try this by doing this i got batter signal on 3g

Hello,

Did you get solution to this problem? I know it was quite a while back for you. But I have the same problem today - I bought the Droid razr unlocked phone (UK unlocked GSM) and when I put in the t-mobile SIM, it is only working on the EDGE. Although phone is capable of 3G, it is not connecting to 3g network. If I select option "3G Only", then no bars/coverage.
Please help!
