3G on Samsung Admire Here is the 3022.prl

I just installed prl 3022 but now i cant access the internet at all not even the 1x displays on the status bar...anyone know why?

first, turn off your wifi connection. (jsut in case). if it is still unable to connect, then turn the phone off, remove the battery, and hold the power button down for 30 seconds. replace the battery and reboot the phone. if you are still unable to get a wireless internet signal, then dial *228 and reload your original PRL. that should get you back to normal. at that point, you can try the upgrade again (maybe with the 3020 prl instead)
 
This is what i did just before 3g kick in on my cell,
anybody have any ideas as to what it was that worked?

1.) I updated the .prl list from 3018 to 3019 by dialing *228 then option 5 at the prompt****

2.) I got prl 3020 from the internet and installed it to my phone using QPST_2.7_366

When i did not get 3g with prl 3020
i used *228 to revert back to prl 3019,
then I did a Factory Reset on my phone thinking it would restore the original prl 3018.(it didn't, 3019 was still there)

3. I then Rooted the phone with this below:

*NOTE* to root the phone i needed: the phone connected to the pc with
*USB debugging ON
*USB Connection/Storage ON
*And I had to drag -superuser.apk- out of the above package to my phones sd card, install superuser.apk to my phone, THEN click run.bat from the folder. (only then did i successfully root my phone)****

4. Installed Root Checker(to verify that the phone was rooted)

after that my phone was still hooked up to the computer for about a hour
while i surfed the net determined to find out how to get freakin 3G on my freakin cell, lol

I had:
*USB debugging ON
*USB Connection/Storage ON
*In network settings I changed CDMA roaming mode to Automatic(rather than -Metro PCS only)
*and I Enabled Data Roaming (i never leave my area anyhoo) :P

After about a hour i glanced at my cell, and OMG the 1x TURNED TO 3G
and the prl changed Automatically to 3022.
(metro pcs customer service told me that the 1x MEANT 3G) rofl

did rooting the phone open something up? idk

Im going to try to do the same thing on my friends Samsung Admire in the next few days.
He lives right down the street from me and he still has only 1x with prl 3019.

So i figure it must have been something i did or he would have 3G too.

Works pretty well where I live (East Bay, SF Bay Area, California). Seems pretty speedy. According to mobile speed test I'm pulling down about 1100kbps. And no, no wifi is turned on (I need to learn how to take a screen shot.)

Connect phone to computer 6. Open device manager expand ports and make note of what COM port your USB device is on 7. -Open up QPST configuration- If COM port is not shown, select add port and enter COM# (# being the one seen in device manager) then 8. -Open up Service Programming- (phone must be selected to continue) On the main menu setting tab click read from phone. It will ask for your SPC code(enter it) then it will obtain the phone info. 9. Look for roam tab and there will be an option under preferred roaming to search for new prl. locate it(3022.prl) and select write.

i cant seem to be able to create a new COM port cuz i put the port number that my rooted admire is in and it cant see it.


edit: i was looking under the usb ports, but i found it under the Ports List, (duh)
 
I went through all the steps, ie. 3022prl steps, but still have 1x. I'm in the Philly area, any ideas on when I can expect to start getting 3g signal. And has anyone had it work in this area.

Dude, why does the Hood get 3g first? Oh well.

3g in Miami also extends from sw 11st and sw137ave south east to us1 and sw22 Ave by the museum. I took 24st (coral way) and bird road with capped 3g the whole way from 137 to us1.

Ok I did everything but the icons still says 1x. is there something wrong???
 
Hello guys,

I live in Kissimmee, FL. Got my Admire rooted, installed PRL 3022 on it, but it seems like it alternates between 3G and 1x. I can make and receive calls with no problems, but I can't receive SMS when the 3G is on. Any ideas?
 
Much Thanks Locklady -used this tutorial on my LG OPtimus M --last night mysteriously (well in midst of flashing roms) my PRL 3020(3g) changed to 3019(1x:() -now am on 3022 and back with 3g:D - tutorial worked out great and was easy to follow :)
 
I just updated to 3022 and no 3G in La Mirada, CA near LA........ ANYONE HAVE NEWS IF THERE IS A CUSTOM ROM FOR THE SAMSUNG ADMIRE?
