Root 3G problem on Custom Rom

Sorry, IamPrssu I really do not know how to explain it. You got a ROM in your phone with the correct radio for your region. It's a stock ROM so it is a reliable one. The APN settings look correct.

I am manually entering the APN details in this desire HD.

Vodafone www
Name: Vodafone www
APN : www
MMS Protocol : WAP 2.0
MCC : 404
MNC : 86
APN type: Default

The part in bold is the only thing you should have to enter. Strictly speaking the instructions say:

Name: Vodafone
APN : www

But a wrong name should not matter.

If verifying with your carrier results in nothing, my last piece of advice is to try a different SIM.
I had a SIM that I had to resplace a few years back since it stopped getting a 3G signal. It seems to much of a coincidence that a SIM would break at the same time as the flash of ARHD... but who knows.

I'll get on call with Vodafone & HTC too. As of now I have used AAHK and rooted it. I have also installed Android Revolution rom. I am getting Edge which looks a little faster than "G".
Also I am getting doubts whether the mobile is a real one or fake. The ebay price was a bargain deal and speaker grill looks to be too close to the edge of the phone which I believe was not with my previous phone. Also under the battery cover it is written PD98100 instead of A9191 which was on my previous mobile. I will also check if IMEI is a valid one.

Everything was fine except for 3G. 3G was working fine in GoAPK Rom but in ARHD 6.3.1, I am getting only Edge(all the APN Settings are exactly the same).

GoAPK is a Chinese alternative to Google Play. Sort'a like the Amazon App Store. Other than that, I don't know much about it.

I suppose would be possible to build a ROM that reports GPRS/EDGE as 3G/H.

yes 3G/H was working fine when it had Goapk rom,i.e. when I bought it.

I also tried to install back the goapk rom and went through some chinese discussion forums through google translator but couldnt find any download links.Not sure if they had disguised gprs/edge as 3G as I remember getting good speeds. I just checked the imei number. numberingplans site tells me that this imei is a correct but it doesnt have any details on what handset it is.instead it was asking me for the details.Does that mean the mobile is fake?

Also i will check ebay returns/refund policy..i have the seller's mobile num too. will call him first thing tomorrow morning to check for refund.
