Root 3g turning white, losing data connection

I'm chiming back in on this one. Wifes never been rooted phone is doing the same thing intermittently. No 3G symbol, bars are white, can't make calls, need to reboot. Guess this isn't a leak issue.

I run into this issue when I seemingly roam off of 3g and come back, or maybe go in and out of a saved WIFI profile. Toggling airplane mode sees to fix it. This is super annoying though.

Any official word from Verizon on this yet, if it is in fact a OTA bug as well?

This has been happening to me as well since I have been on GB. I thought it was connected to wi-fi auto-connecting and disconnecting but I manually shut wi-fi off for a day and when I woke this morning I had white signal bars (could not make any calls) and my 3g icon was gone, no data being sent. Turning airplane mode on and off did not help. Had to re-boot.
Hope they figure it out soon. Very much PIA. :)

I think i am going to go back to Froyo until this is resolved. I move around enough and rely on my phone for email that I can't be watching my phone to see if I lost data connection every 5 minutes.

Feel the same way. Ive thought about reapplying the radio file, or SBF'ing but that would be a total pain, and others have already done that with no luck
VZW needs to get .596 or whatever out to us soon so this gets fixed. Between this and the randomness ive had with Apps not playing well with GB, its been unfun. I think the Original leak was better than any of the others!

When the official OTA came out I sbf'd back to froyo, did 2 part P3Droid method, both odexed and deodexed I haven't had any more issues. Since my wifes nonrooted X has had the same issue, I'm going to try wiping cache on her phone and see it helps.

Ugh this keyboard is horrific to type responses on web forums, might have to go back to swype.

.596 from VZW has been out for a while now

I've had the same problem - mostly with going from wifi to 3g and back. often it would be left in a state of not connecting to either unless i would reboot.
i'm on the .596 deodexed
I didn't factory reset going from .595 to .596
so i decided yesterday to factory wipe, re-install .596, factory wipe again (only because the first factory wipe left me in a boot loop.
but after all that and restoring all my shit, I'm good to go..
i'll report back in a few days if I've had the lost data connection issue or not.
other issues that have occurred are when you try to call out, it immediately hangs up and says 0:00 seconds on the screen and you can't make a call until you reboot.
seem to be a related issue

Exactly, this is the same thing that happens to me.

so doing a factory wipe/reload didn't seem to fix the problem.
today i had a "text message not sent" issue and it would only resolve by doing a reboot.

I guess i'm going to have to put my parents back on froyo. they keep bitching about having to reboot the phones all the time

why are all 4 of my DX's having the exact same issue + the others in this thread, but not the global public at large.

there has to be some common reason to why we are loosing mobile data/3g and have to reboot to get it back.

we need to start listing up what we having to try and figure this out

running .596 deodexed rooted
system version = 4.5.596.MB810.Verizon.en.US
baseband version = BP_C_01.09.12P
Kernel version = 2.6.32.9-g34b306d qgd748@il93lnxdroid09 # 1
Build number = 4.5.1_57_dx5-26
ERI verison = 5
PRL verison = 52299

launcher = GO launcher
blur home = renamed

I had this issue a few weeks ago. Oddly it happened around the time of the official GB OTA. I was running the .595 leak with no problems. Then 3G started dropping out. I tried it all -- wiping 595, SBF back to froyo (with the old radio), accepting the OTA (with new radio), a factory reset of .340 and .596 (no root) -- nothing worked.

Did some more reading found that a live battery pull had worked for some. Did battery pull -- problem solved. No idea why a battery pull trumps a shutdown/restart or factory reset, but it did for me.

Try a battery pull
