3rd party apps

Menu > settings > applications > unknown sources check box.

That allows installation of non-Market apps, if that is what you mean.

Thats what I thought, tried to install music junk and it said non market apps cant be installed, just wondering if I will have to root to get it to work correctly.

Depends on the app, most apps dont need root, a few do. Of the 100K+ app on market and the hundreds off market its still less than 1% of all apps that need root. Having said that, a number of the "real good ones" do need root.

good call...theres also the case of same apps that are non-root but have root functionality. widget locker comes to mind....you can skip the android 5 second delay stuff if you are root, meaning widget locker is instantly your lockscreen when you time out or come back (you won't see a quick stock lockscren then widget locker)

edit: for those interested you have to change it in settings, it doesnt do it automatically when rooted
