Anyone run 4.0.4? Reports say there is some batter improvement. Also it is supposed to switch between 3g and 4g better. Just wondering what people who have loaded it think.

I can't find anything on it....

..get it?

JK I've been running with the radios for a few days and I haven't noticed any problems. But I'm in a fairly strong 4g area. aaand I didnt notice anything weird on the 4.03 ones.

supposedly the camera is quicker.

I'm confused and perhaps not fully up to date, but how can 4.0.4 be out when I haven't gotten 4.0.3 yet? I am running a stock phone.

4.0.4 is a firmware update directly from Google but it is not official or a finalized/approved version. Since it is not a finalized update, there will likely be bugs. To update your hone with it, you must be rooted (or have part of your phone's security removed).

The finalized version is rumored to be 4.0.5 and will be sent directly to your phone when it is officially released.

All you guys/gals need to do is look up at the top of the forum for the 'All Things Root' Thread... Verizon Galaxy Nexus - All Things Root - Android Forums

I've had 4.0.4 rooted and running like many users since the weekend. I already reside in an area with very strong 4g signal, but I still saw a decent bump in signal quality after the update. The OS seems to be a little more stable too. If you're not comfortable with upgrading on your own, the OTA update should be out soon enough (hopefully!) and may contain additional improvements.

Enjoy.

I just flashed it last night, some small improvements in menu navigation. I haven't seen any signal improvements personally, but my desk is in a signal black hole, so it would take a massive boost for me to notice anything. Battery life seems a little better, the Android OS bug is fixed.

My biggest concern with this phone is the 3G/4G switch over that can cause data to cease (I have to restart the phone to regain data connection; others have reported 5+ minutes for it to come back on its own, but I've never wanted to wait that long)

Did anyone who upgraded to 4.0.4 have this issue before? If so, have you noticed an improvement since updating?

(I'm running stock, unrooted 4.0.2 btw)

I think you will notice an improved handling of the switch over on 4.0.4.

My signal has always been strong with Verizon since I'm in the NYC area, but I've read from a lot of users on XDA that the switch over is much better.

Regardless of switch over, my overall signal strength improved by 5-10dbm after flashing .4.

How does dbm work?

i'm not an engineer so don't take this as gospel. i have not had one dropped call on the gnex since i bought it in december.

the lower the better...60dbm is perfect signal quality, 120dbm probably means your calls will drop out fairly frequently

in nyc right now my signal strength is 75dbm. at home about 25 miles east of manhattan, i'm around 84-91dbm. before the update i was in the high 90s at home with no issues, sometimes in the low 100s.

Should add I havnt had a dropped call either, however since flashing yakju build with xxkk radio ive just started having muffled/low call quality on my last 3 calls this morning at work.

There are some reports/speculations that 4.0.5 will be for GSM nexus and Verizon one will get 4.0.4. No one seems to know for sure until it happens officially.

Overall there are many saying it improved the signal strength though some are saying it doesn't make much difference. I think it depends on location. But everyone pretty much seems to agree it brings better battery life, UI speed and also improved 4G connection, radio switch over, which is very encouraging. No. 1 complain on LTE nexus was random loss of data signal and buggy radio switch over, and seems it will get fixed.

You mean the higher the better.. you forgot the negative sign. -120 dBm is pretty much guaranteed no service. I get about -105 in my basement -.-... that's on HSPA though.. On EDGE I get -83 dBm

I am on verizon and when I was running the stock software google wallet did work successfully for me. Since I have upgraded to the new leaked update, google wallet is no longer functioning.

I did a complete wipe also and after doing the browser/market wallet trick it installed and works perfectly.
