4.1.2 is here guys,uk.

Also, to those that have updated via Kies, has Swype been updated to a newer version?

Probably, but I personally use SwiftKey and advise anyone to do the same. It's leagues ahead of any of touch based keyboard out there. Yes, it costs around

Just connected my Samsung Ace 2 to my laptop to backup the files, when it had done so Kies reported that a software update was available, great I thought Jelly Bean at last but all it did was upgrade the Kies software then added an upgrade for Firmware but no sign of Jelly Bean  .

Kies reports that my Current and Latest Firmware version is PDA:LL2 / PHONE:LL2 / CSC:MA1(EVR)

Anyone with any idea's when I'm likely to get the new Firmware my provider is Giff-Gaff

If you're EE (or more specifically, Orange), expect to be waiting a while, they're generally the slowest of the providers to release updates. :(

Many moons ago, I'd a conversation with Orange whilst I was waiting for Gingerbread on my Desire HD, they told me it rolls like this:

Samsung/any OEM will release the software to unbranded users first and at roughly the same time (maybe even slightly before), they'll give it to the major networks for approval and to add their own software, specific radios etc, then test internally. Once they've done that, the networks will give it back to the handset manufacturer for apprpoval and testing. Once they're happy, they'll release it in agreement with the network.

That's why network branded handsets generally have to wait a "little" longer than unbranded.

That is EE firmware, you have to wait it out like i am or flash using Odin and risk messing up your phone

top-end games are gonna lag no matter what you do as this is only a mid-range device. Out of all the games I play I've only seen a lag on Temple Run. Casual games like Angry Birds, Cut The Rope & Fruit Ninja are flawless.

FF III also runs fantastic :D

Worms armagedon n0 lags haha
Temple run series lag evry frame
Dead triger ang s0me hd games
So i left the worms its realy fun to play
I love the jb u.k than tmn
I gues philipines wil geting jb on may 22 2050 haha

Considering it's only been just over a month since Samsung started the rollout I don't know how you come to that conclusion.

Just be patient. It WILL come. There's seriously not THAT much in Jelly Bean to be excited about anyway. A couple of aesthetic changes, camera zoom and that's about it. The rest could easily be achieved with a custom launcher anyway. Oh, and bookmark sync/the ability to install Google Chrome.

Seriously though. While some minor things ARE an improvement, it's not such a dramatic jump that it'll make your phone way more powerful or anything. It still runs the same apps, it still performs the same way (in fact it performs BETTER in Gingerbread) what you have to think as well is many of the main changes came with ICS. ICS was also only the next version up from GB as Honeycomb was for tablets. So technically Jelly Bean is only two versions ahead. It's not like going from Eclair for example.

Don't get me wrong, Jelly Bean is definitely worth it and awesome after a few tweaks and installing Nova Launcher but Gingerbread is also fantastic. I came from a Blackberry Curve 8520 and after using one of those you realise how incredible even Gingerbread is.

Im enjoying jellybean simply for Bluetooth tether works a treat and uses less battery, Google now is also u plus and the browser is a lot more plesent to use

I don't have unlimited data and don't travel a lot plus have home broadband so don't really care about tethering and personally I've never made use of Google Now. Remember, the improved voice search is not Google Now.

I know what Google now is, I've been using it on my nexus 7 since Christmas, don't have broadband so tethering is a must for me

That wasn't aimed directly at you. There are many people out there who confuse Google Now with the voice search. Even some professional reviewers do it.

Hi guys,

I'm a bit of an android novice, and I'm getting a Galaxy Ace 2 tomorrow with a new contract from t-mobile. I've heard the upgrade to Jelly Bean is officially out in the UK (where I am), and I'd like to know how I upgrade it? I don't want to do anything to void the warranty. So what is the official way of upgrading using the official channels? I keep hearing a lot about custom ROM's etc, which I don't really want to be playing around with at this stage.

Thanks

Use the official Samsung Kies software or wait to be notified of the update via ota. It's only out for unlocked firmware for now.
