4.2.2 is here for boost k2_cl

I'm sorry, I've read this entire thread but I'm a little confused.
My htc one sv is rooted, so if I try to install the update will it screw up my phone?

What are the steps I have to take to do this correctly?

Also, I've been reading on other forums that the new 4.2.2 update screws up WIFI and Battery issues. Maybe this update isn't necessary for me.

Thanks! Sorry for the noobie questions.

You will lose root but you can always get it back. Very easy to do.

As for WiFi and battery issues - with this device that is a myth.

Nice, and I'm assuming once I lose root I'll just have to flash a 4.2.2-compatible bootloader... Right?

No, the bootloader comes with the firmware inside the OTA. You will be bumped from 2.00 to 2.21. As for root, TWRP can give you root if you know how to get TWRP to recognize that you need it or you can find a flashable zip with SuperSU to install via TWRP. If you are using CWM then you won't be able to anymore. CWM isn't supported on 4.2.2 and the "official" TWRP is currently outdated with 4.2.2. However, I built an unofficial TWRP which is updated to work with 4.2.2.

Unofficial basically just means that I haven't sent the source code to TeamWin for them to start supporting it. I haven't because I made some personal modifications to it that TeamWin currently does not use in their source. For example, the ability to take screenshots while in your recovery.

Awesome. I appreciate you taking the time to provide that for us. I'm assuming you've already posted your unofficial TWRP on this thread, so I'll look for it and give it a try. Thanks again!

EDIT: I'm going from CWM to TWRP

Okay, I'm going to give this a shot. Here's what I plan to do:
1) Make backup zip of my device
2) Install OTA update to 4.2.2
3) fastboot flash recovery FILE.IMG
4) Reboot

Concerns: Does this look about right? What if I have apps that require root? Will installing the OTA 4.2.2 update screw these up?

I've noticed that on occasion my screen doesn't turn off. I have it set to turnoff at 2 minutes and it will dim towards the end, but doesn't shut off. its not constant, but it's there.

I'm not so convinced 4.2.2 is worth the upgrade. I might just wait for kitkat. As it is, my HTC ONE SV is just about perfect...

So let me ask...what's the best way for me to update to 4.2.2? I'm s-off, 4.1 and currently using cwm.

Well, if you were smart enough to make a backup of your phone using either twrp or cwm before making any changes to your device, then I would tell you the easiest way would be to restore your device using your backup, reflash your stock recovery to your recovery partition, then download and install the ota.

Out of my curiosity, when you get the ota do you also get the new firmware with it? I manually flashed it through stock cuz downloading it every time was a hassle back then and now I'm just wondering

Yes

Update 4.2.2 won't flash, I flashed stock recovery back on, it always gives me "Installation aborted" when it reboots to install the update.

I re-flashed stock ROM and locked the boot loader back, works fine, update still won't take, I'm on Moonshine S-OFF, tried factory reset, I have all the right drivers.

What am I missing?

Don't need to relock because you are S-Off. Only required if you are S-On. OTA's check your system files for the md5 sum and compares for a match. If there isn't a match it will abort and/or if a system file is missing altogether it will abort. Must be completely stock. Being S-Off and rooted does not affect this.

Where can I find the original stock ROMs? I downloaded them from here:

[HTC One SV] Stock boot.img | recovery.img | radio.img - xda-developers

correct version for Boost, flashed the boot img, did'nt do anything. the rom.zip I can't copy over to my phone as the archive file is corrupted.

Being corrupted just usually means a bad download. Also, the Rom.zip is encrypted so there is that also.

And if you flashed the correct boot.img and still nothing, then you don't have a /system.
