4.3 update Discussion and issues HERE !!!

Try this:

Tap the time display. You should get a border around it. Pull the bottom down. (Start a little above the actual border - experiment.) Pull it down past the center of the screen. If you don't like that display pull the bottom border back up.

I know there's another way to do it, because I did it a few weeks ago, but I can't remember it now. I think I found it with a google search, though. Like

add widgets to lock screen 4.3

hi peeps, just updated yesterday my GN2 and it looks ok...just this morning i found out one problem, the events stickers are all gone in the Calendar...anybody has this problem as well and how to get it back?- tia from PH

hmmm. There is an option to add widgets, and it's easy, but it has a set number of widgets and none is weather.

I use stock Samsung keyboard and it remembers mine. Not sure if it's because I have Personalized data checked in Predictive text.

There was some discussion of the SD card affecting battery life. Some suggested formatting the card within the phone or removing it. I've done that, but battery is still the same. Bad as before with no improvement.

So battery life really does suck more with 4.3. :(

Where is "Personalized data checked in Predictive text"

Option please?

My update experience has been impressive, no issues with anything thus far. No hang ups, battery life seems as good as always, and everything is smooth. Still checking though so I'll report back on any issues.

There are two annoyances that technically aren't software related errors. One is that Navigation app is gone and I have tried to get it back but haven't figured out how yet. Using Maps blows. I'll use Waze instead, but I still very much prefer Navigation. The other issue is that you can't use lockscreen widgets if you have a pin code to open your device. I was really looking forward to that but I have to have a pin because I use my phone for work.

Do you use wireless (bluetooth) headphones or smartwawtch (like Pebble or MetaWatch)? If you do, you will find that update broke Bluetooth stack and you can no longer wirelessly control playback of the phone :(

Hi guys...so since the update these always sit in my update cue.... i don't know what these are...and i doubt they are of any use to me. There are no icons for them in my app manager so I can't seem to be able to disable them.... so how do I get rid of them or make them stop wanting to update??? See attached

Ps. Ignore the sound hound and hangouts ones... altho...how do I get rid of hangouts?? Never used it..

Pps. Why don't I have access to notification bar like I used to before when I am on the call??? Kinda like to multitask. ... talk to one person on speaker and text with another.... hrmmm

Thanks a ton!!

I had same questions. I figured out they can't be deleted but can be turned OFF. Go into the Applications Manager click on the program and turn it OFF. You can also find a new section under the running apps/SD apps etc lists for apps you have turned off just in case you ever want to turn it back on. I did this to all the new Samsung apps that load with the update and don't seem to have the battery drain now.

Hi, I've been thinking whether or not to do my software update to 4.3. I've heard complaints about the battery life and some of the features. I love the battery life I have and am worried some of my favourite features may not be the same after the update...
Is the new update worth it?

Anyone had a lot of temporary freezes? Mine occasionally won't let the screen come back on for about a minute, then it does but it's unresponsive and I can't unlock it.

Yeah, I don't have those gadgets so I couldn't comment but that would really suck.

Again, my most annoying thing is the deletion of Navigation. That really blows.

Everything else is fine, nothing special, my phone was running great before the update and still is now.

I was on stock 4.1.1 and I did the ota 4.3 update from at&t. When it booted it stayed at the galaxy note 2 logo and It wouldn't go into recovery either. Then I tried flashing it to stock again in odin and it was all successful but It still won't boot or go into recovery mode but it will boot into download mode. I tried using a pit file for it but odin won't flash it. Any ideas?:(

Anyone tried installing Knox?
After I updated to 4.3 I installed Knox. I started it up and it appeared to be working well whilst in the secure contained environment.
When I tried to exit to the main phone environment, I found I it didn't work. My credentials were verified and accepted, but I was returned to the contained environment each time.
I rebooted the phone and it came up in some sorted of loop where the display would just constantly flicker a message about Knox but never actually complete booting.
I had to boot into the recovery menu and factory reset in the end to get it working again.
I don't dare install Knox again in case it causes the same behaviour.

Personally I don't think it is worth it unless you are going to purchase an overpriced Galaxy Gear......leave well alone until they issue a proper fix...my Note 2 is working fine why would I wish to download this S and be a beta tester for Samsung

I cannot at all get the Hi Galaxy wake up command to work now. You used to be able to change the wake up command but there is no setting now

UK Vodafone.

Updated yesterday.

Everything works fine. I notice a very slight improvement to performance. As far as battery life goes, there is a marginal reduction.

UK Vodafone here too.

Update has been fine for me so far *touches wood*

Being able to move apps to SD is great.

Haven't noticed any difference in battery life luckily. There's a slight lag when I press the home button now, and a slight delay when I select an app in the application manager but nothing too annoying.

I'm not a fan of the flat, square look that the new update has brought but I can live with it.

One thing I would like to be able to get rid of is the date on all my pictures. It does go away after a few seconds, but can I turn that feature off completely?

Try this, in your gallery, hit the soft menu button and then settings, go to the 'Tags' heading and make sure 'Tag Buddy' is un-checked.

Try this, settings/Controls/Voice controls and make sure this is on then...
Settings/Device/Lock screen/Wake up in lock screen and there are 4 functions to adjust to your liking.
I am using this info from my Note 3 atm which is on Android 4.3, if it doesn't work I will try on my wife's Note 2 when she gets in from work.

Nothing in lock screen settings that links to hi galaxy wake up command evohicks. :(

Didn't know you had upgraded to a note 3 btw

Ok super annoying. After the 4.3 update everything vibrates (gmail, touchdown etc) when I do not want these apps to vibrate upon a new email arriving. I have search all over the phone and in the apps and they are all set not to vibrate. Any ideas??:mad::mad::mad:

Wife saw how much more fun and portable my Note 2 was than her ipad and she stole it!
So I got revenge by getting the Note 3 and her Ipad is up for sale lol.
So in your lock screen settings there is no 'wake up in lock screen' heading? if there is, just turning it on won't do it, you have to press down on 'wake up in lock screen' to access the next menu.
