4.3 update Discussion and issues HERE !!!

Liam, if you are using a secure lock, you will not have those options for wake command. This option is only found in the lock screen options and no longer in S Voice.

OT: As for everyone else... Happy holidays!
I will see how mine goes considering I'm one of the 200+ thousand people here in Ontario, Canada that have no power. Also a tree took out my phone line. This is going to be an interesting holiday it seems.

Oh wow, well you have a happy holiday! I was always told without a negative there would be no positive....;)

Did you ever figure out how to get the update notification to go away or did you give up & just update? I refuse to update (again) & this thing is driving me nuts! The update notification causes Netflix to pause when I'm trying watch a movie. I have to clear the notification & restart.
I saw someone posted a link about how to get rid of it by rooting but I don't care to try my (bad) luck at that.

Nope I just force stop system update in apps manager about 8 times in one day and I get maybe 24 hours of no notification. I have 8.00 of data in my system update, I wonder if I clear data will that help also.

Warning not worth the hassle! !!!!! i have downloaded it and i have problems!!! I use several different blue tooth headsets with my note 2, 2 different stereo headsets the LG 730, the Motorola Flex HD, I also have the Plant robins Voyager and the Blue Ant all of these devices have buttons on them to start and stop music and audio books to manage your audio without going to the screen of your phone, I no longer have the button control for 4 different headsets from 4 different manufacturers, about $500 worth of headsets, I spent hours on the phone with Verizon and Samsung, I was told by Samsung that they were third party devices they don't support. ... they all worked flawlessly until the update and Verizons response is to send me a new phone hopefully it won't have the update there's no air command the update is definitely not worth it to me

That's if KIES plays nice since that is flaky too... :(

I did use KIES to update my Note 10.1 because OTA always failed to update. It's as simple as plugging it in and then checking for the latest firmware. In which case you follow through the prompts.

One of the reasons I've turned auto-update off my Note 2. After seeing 4.3 on the Note 3, I've opted to keep my 4.1.2 on my Note 2.
You are very lucky that was a wise choice!

Good Day ,

hey guys i just updated my note 2 to 4.3 jelly bean but when i playing songs on cloud skipper or samsung music player songs like pause and resume i restarted my note 2 5 times but still this problem since 2 days ...i need help please ?!!

I can confirm updating to 4.3 was a serious error.

From now on I flatly refuse to update and will do my damnedest not to.

I'm sick and TIRED of Android updates making things worse or screwing things up!

Well I haven't noticed many differences, except some things look a bit different.

However I HAVE noticed that half the time it no longer registers on my PC as a USB drive; I have to repeatedly plug the cable in and out now before it recognizes it's a device, rather than just charging the battery, I HAVE noticed the gallery is even worse (really messy, it was too messy before compared to my HTC and now its even worse), I HAVE noticed my home wifi doesn't work properly, in fact I can no longer get a signal downstairs, where before it was no problem.

I've hardly used my phone today, apart from trying to sort out these issues.

If I possibly can I'm never doing an update again. This is the 3rd time, and 2nd phone, where I've updated Android and wished I hadn't.

Why can't these people just leave things alone?

Sent Samsung support an e-mail because am NOT downloading 4.3 until they have sorted the problems, mentioned this forum and everyone's problems so if they wish to look but that's up to them....they e-mailed back and said a new upgrade will be rolling out soon but they did not state when or what it would resolve...will keep you posted of any changes

Yes, I mentioned about this in a few previous posts. They broke BT protocol since 4.3 update on our Note 2 upgraded BT4.0 to BT4.0+BLE (bluetooth low energy) required for a lot of new wireless devices including smartwatchs, thus enabling support with Gear.

Ironically, I DO NOT see anybody else (under other service providers) complaining about their 4.3 updates. So, this is NOT Samsung problem, but rather with a specific 4.3 build for/by Verizon. Contact them!!! The more people complain, the sooner they will bump this fix in priority list for the next dot update which I'm pretty sure will be coming soon to Note 2.

Overall, I'm happy with 4.3 update. I have noticed increased battery drain, but tracked it down to a few of the apps that were not working well enough with the update (in my case Executive Assistant was really killing my battery, under the same config as I was using it with 4.1.2). I actually switched to eNotify , which I HIGHLY recommend, and that one does the same job for me and it supports MetaWatch ;)

I don't use BT so can't comment on whether it's faulty or not.

Battery drain is significant regardless. Before this I could do whatever I wanted and still have good battery. Now I have to be more careful.

Lock screen limitations and crippled.

Lag on display startup.

Random lag in system.

Higher RAM usage if not cleared on a regular basis (I'm clearing RAM more frequently than 4.1.2).

Hand writing to text is not improved in default keyboard. No options to change it.

S Voice options crippled.

Light coloured themes for most default apps (kills battery quicker) with no option to go dark.

Ugly UI and icons.

Notification bar transparency (no option to change to solid bar).

Also noticed a random bug with 4.3 battery stats. It sometimes displays Android OS at 100% usage. Despite the fact that I play leisure games, note taking and having the screen on. And only way to reset it is by charging to 100% full charge.

Yup, Google is slowly burning itself up with the lack of control over its android distributors. Samsung has saturated the phone and tablet market and has too many devices that they can't keep up with. Google needs to make android standardized, these carrier and manufacturer flavours are running its reliability.

Good Afternoon,

Thank you for your email back to Samsung Customer Services.

There are no known issues with the note 2 software problems, but we cannot guarantee that if you download it, that you will not have any problems.

It would be upon yourself if you would like to download it. The issue is being resolved in time and only certain notes and phones are experiencing the problems.

^^^ There are no known issues, but the issue is being resolved? Good job Samsung.... still passing on the update

Updated GNII with android 4.3 and wifi does not work , it's just connecting & disconnecting every 1 second!
Is it possible to revert it?

This happened to me as well. Try rebooting the router and see if that resolves it. Also try power cycling the entire network. Basically, power down all users and network connected peripherals. Then the router. Then the modem. Then power one by one starting with the modem, router, users and peripherals. Sometimes that fixes wireless connectivity issues.

After updating to 4.3 my Note 2 has problems with some apps, noticeably Rdio (though that has now been resolved) and tunewiki-it crashes every time.

I also can't share a picture from the gallery by MMS because this forces close every time.

I think the battery life is a little worse but I may just be imagining that.

Annoyingly I also get a notification saying my wifi connection is unstable. It was probably always the case before the update but at least it didn't keep telling me that!

Few things i can add...

INSTAGRAM video completely stopped working since the update. I can take video but when I try to push it live, it says an error occurred. Same if i try to upload an existing video.

My native camera in video mode with flash on has floaters. Looks like fuzzies flying in the air or reflections. When there is no flash it is fine.

My wifi signal is atrocious. The internet is slow... When I did a Speedtest.net test it barely has a connection. My bf's iphone has four times the speed from the same hub.
