Help 4168 .tmp files created on my external SD card

Hi all,
I have a little bit of a strange issue that has happened to me twice now.

4168 files of .tmp type have magically been created onto my external SD card.
(see attached)

I've not tried opening the files as I'm not sure if it's safe to do so. I operate on Osx right now..

I can delete the files but they just seem to be writing to the sd card all the time so the card just fills up again.

Has anyone got any idea what this is please? Better still, how to stop it?

OK.. Managed to open up the file in a text editor. I think I've cracked whats causing it too. I use the "Allshare" app quite a bit to connect to my Lacie HD media player.. it seems these tmp files are being created by that sharing. Thats weird because for two shows I watched on the 22nd July it has created 4168 files..

thats madness. Take a look at the attached.. from my basic understanding.. and please someone with more brains than I please confirm this.. This file was created (as well as about 2000 more of them) as I was watching an episode of History cold case...

I can see my local ip address and the name of the show I was watching..

Does anyone else have this issue???

Same issue here. Any better way than deleting those annoying tmp files manually every time?

I can't find any .tmp files after streaming from an Iomega NAS. Are these being created in the root folder of the external card or the internal (USB) storage volume?

Same issue here. I've had over 22.000 (!) .tmp files on my internal sd memory. It caused problems reading the directories with the file explorer and also with some applications such as my navigation software. It took the Android file explorer more than 15 minutes reading the complete file structure. After deleting all the 22.000 files the problem is solved. I think Uktivo is right on the fact that Allshare is generating this much temporary files in storage. Under settings you can change the location where Allshare stores this files. I changed this setting from phone to SD card. There's no way to make settings on deleting the .tmp automaticly after closing Allshare as far as I can see.

I'm glad this issue is solved.

What device is doing the streaming, and what type of media file is being streamed? From looking at uktivo's screenshot I'm wondering if it's DRM-related, because I can't replicate the issue. My files are all AVI or MP4 video with no copy protection, and are simply stored on a NAS device with media server capabilities.

The mediaplayer device I'm using is a LG DP1. I am using a DLNA wireless connection. The media files I've played are MP3, MP4, DivX media. There are several ways to use the Allshare app. When Allshare is on I can start in the mediaplayer and browse my media collection on my smartphone (SGS II). The otherway around is also possible. Browsing on my phone using the media player as the playback device.

That sounds like exactly what I'm doing i.e. viewing media stored on a server via the GS2 using Allshare.

Dears, my Android on Samsung Premier is making some .tmp files everytime, even when I sleep. What is a stupid program ?? I closed All Share and Internet, but no changes. And my tmp files is not 16 kb, but more than 1,5 Mb, look at this and please help me to find the killer of my memory!!! Thank you!
