44% Android OS [BetterBatteryStats Update]

The only thing I have running is Lookout in case I ever lose my phone I can locate it. Can that really contribute that much to the 44% Android usage? I am trying to find an app that tells you exactly what is using it, to no avail.

Okay I downloaded this and have no idea what I am looking at. I filtered down to partial wakelocks (assuming I am doing this correctly).

Your phone is ate 61% after nearly 12 hours (nice battery life), so your stats may be a little deceiving. Android OS has used 44% of the 39% that your battery has drained over the 12 hours since you unplugged, or something like 16-18% of your total battery. This is probably normal as the phone does need to check for things that need to sync or make sure its still connected to the network even while it is sleeping. This looks to me like a phone left unplugged overnight with a morning screen shot.

Correct. Maybe I downloaded BetterBatteryStats for nothing lol.

The whole Android OS thing was already explained multiple times.. it's a dumping ground for all battery usage that doesn't fit anywhere. There's a bug in all builds below 4.0.4 that adds on screen time to that rather than subtracting it which is why the usage ends up seeming high

I also think there is a known reporting error that makes Android OS higher than it actually is. When I flashed 4.0.4, my Android OS is never more than 2-3%. Look for this issue to disappear with the next OTA.

Yeah just watch your battery life. Android OS is reporting wrong before 4.0.4 for sure. I had plenty of occasions where Android OS was reading longer awake time then my phone had actually been on battery which was clearly wrong. That said, sometimes my Android OS was indeed out of control and drained 45% of my battery overnight, which is clearly not right, but as long as you aren't in a situation where that is happening, it's otherwise just the reporting bug.
