Repeat, this has been an issue with numerous ROM/Kernel combos.
Yup, ROM/Kernel should be utterly irrelevant, unless you happen to be on one of the few custom ROMs where a dev includes radio updates.
Also, before you do what I suggested prior, go grab aLogCat from the Market, filter on "WiMAX," try connecting via WiMAX, and please report back what the system logs spit out.
. Flyjbaker, I know you're past the bootloop issue now, but yes, wiping data should just take you back to a clean version of whatever ROM you're on. It won't restore stock. I has no way of doing so. You'd need to flash the RUU to get back to stock like Mr. Ed did.
