Root 4G issues.....

Repeat, this has been an issue with numerous ROM/Kernel combos.

Yup, ROM/Kernel should be utterly irrelevant, unless you happen to be on one of the few custom ROMs where a dev includes radio updates.

Also, before you do what I suggested prior, go grab aLogCat from the Market, filter on "WiMAX," try connecting via WiMAX, and please report back what the system logs spit out.

Wow, I go eat lunch, and you guys leave me in the dust . Flyjbaker, I know you're past the bootloop issue now, but yes, wiping data should just take you back to a clean version of whatever ROM you're on. It won't restore stock. I has no way of doing so. You'd need to flash the RUU to get back to stock like Mr. Ed did.

Mr. Ed, if you're interested in getting rid of bloatware while you're still on stock, I'm working on a flashable zip to remove all bloatware, but leave it in tact if you ever want it back. Freezing apps with titanium backup is just inconsistent at best, which is why I thought I'd work on this. I know it's completely irrelevant to this conversation, but I thought I'd bring it up.

I'm also wondering if maybe we shouldn't be updating the wimax radio manually. Maybe that's part of the problem.

this is the problem that I am having lately...there are many things getting borked that shouldn't be because ^ changes we are making with flashed roms ect should be utterly irrelevant.

Well, latest isn't always the greatest.

First try dropping back down to PRI 1.77 but keep Radio 2.15.00.11.19 and WiMAX 27167. Reflash the PRI, boot up, Update Profile, reboot again, then test please.

I am done for the day. I have spent way too much time on this and have neglected other more important stuff. I may try this although I don't see how it could work since I had this issue on the old radios as well. I know it couldn't hurt but my problem solving gut instinct tells me that isn't the issue since it wasn't working before the radio flash.....what do you think???

From what I've seen, problems with PRI usually cause stability and wake lock issues more so than 4g issues - especially since it didn't work before. I think you should go with what Mr. Ed has done.

I would strongly suggest that you grab the aLogCat app, run your connectivity tests (before reflashing anything else), filter down on WiMAX, and report back what the system is logging out. Otherwise, we're just grasping at straws here.

That actually is a really good idea. You're certainly not the first to have this problem, but I can't replicate it. If you do make a log, post it here so we can all have a look.

I honestly don't know what I am looking for in aLogcat...but, this is what I get...

E/Wimax(812)...Tried to establish connection to DC Server...Error message 127.0.0.1:7771...connection refused.

Something along those lines.

Does that make any sense or mean anything??

Is aLogcat a root only app?

That's error that repeats over and over again after you turn 4g off. It's a known bug that happens to everyone after they turn 4g off, whether or not 4g is working when on. You do not need root to use alogcat.

Did you filter for Wimax to find that? Is there anything else? Can you maybe:

1) Turn on alogcat
2) Filter for Wimax/clear the log
2) Turn on 4g
3) Leave it for a minute or two
4) Turn off 4g
5) Copy the log

Then host it somewhere so we can take a look?

Only issue now is I am home and no 4g here.... I might be in town tomorrow and give it a go(Houston). I have no clue what I am doing ref alogcat but I will try. See what I can do.....
