Help 4G problems

Does your hold 4G when you exit your home? I.e. is your drop of 4G usually associated with entering a building or an enclosed space? I don't think that's a hardware problem (in the sense that it's unique to your phone), especially if your GF's does the same thing. :(

If you have a friend with a rezound and/or a razr you can do some speedtest.net testing (although if the nexus doesn't have 4G at all, there's not much point) - just make sure you always manually pick the same server on the phones and test them back-to-back but not at the same time.

Are you in a fringe 4G area? You might want to call VZW (611) and ask them about it. If you're in a fringe or extended 4G area, it could just be LTE is too far away to get a reliable signal that will penetrate the buildings you're in. :/

My house and a half mile around it, in or out of buildings, can't get 4g. If it does, its 1 bar and reverts quickly. My tb in my right hand gets 15m on 4g. My nexus in my left hand just clocked 260 kbps on 3g. My area is all 4g. This has been the case with all of my nexus. Dunno what to do at this point. And sorry if I was snappy

Ahh that stinks, and I can totally empathize and understand your frustration. :(

Strange that it doesn't get 4G at all. Are you on the stock 4.0.2 radio or have you tried the 4.0.4 one? I can't remember if you mentioned that. Might be worth a shot with 4.0.4, but most reports don't mention it giving drastically better reception than 4.0.2.

I wonder if you can use the t-bolt to triangulate the position of the tower and see how far you are from it. Definitely not right that the t-bolt gets a 4G signal (can you check the dBm with the sensorly app on your t-bolt? That's the only reliable way I know of to get the LTE signal strength on gingerbread phones). I'm curious what the t-bolt's 4G signal is.

Have you tried calling 611? Tell them your situation with the t-bolt's dBm and speed test results and tell them the Nexus not more than a foot or two away has only 3G and see if they can troubleshoot with you.

Do you get decent 4G outside of this "black hole"?

mods - maybe we can move shawn218's issue to a new thread so it gets more attention and others may be able to help debug? :)

No problem at all, I understand your frustrations. I'm sorry if I came off as a "blind defender" or zealot, it wasn't my intent. :(

I'd be happy to, with shawn218's approval, of course (just reply back here or PM me and also let me know what thread title you'd like).

Also, I'd like to thank you guys for keeping things civil--its very much appreciated and noticed :).

I've used all the radios. Stock, .3 .4

I will try that app when I get home

I call up vzw daily lol

My 4g is always bouncing around when I do have it

As nice as the gesture of a new thread is, and thanks, but its ok. Got off the phone with a real cool tech before who was talking about rooting and stuff. Flat out told me tb is gonna get a better signal. Nexus radio isn't as strong. And at this point its the only thing I can believe

But he did say 4.04 is supposed to be out this month with radio fixes. In already running the leaked radio so I hope its more than that
