Help 4g Service Map (WiMax)

Hey guys,
I been searching around the web for a wimax coverage map so look up the availability of WiMax 4g in my area Hollywood California and Los Angeles can anyone pin point me the right direction to check the service in my area thank you.

>JA

In one of them it tells me excellent 4g coverage which is the first link you gave me and the other link the second one it tells me i have OK coverage "only on the go"? idk i guess i must have some 4g coverage?-.-

I like the Clear map the best. It shows a more accurate outline of the actual WiMAX coverage.
The first link didn't seem to really indicate the proper coverage.

Clwarwire says I don't have 4G but my girlfriends phone is 4G and gets 4G like 1st link says, therefore your argument is invalid

ok the reason sensorly map is bad is because its provided by user data. It's basically incomplete. Accurate, just incomplete thus making it look bad. Users don't go everywhere with there androids u know.. ;)

Would rather have 90% Sensorly completed thn the 50% clearwire :D

Not exactly correct either, Sensorly's data is an aggregate from numerous phone models. ClearWire's map is a better approximation for the "average" user seeing as how they actually go into the field to measure signal strength and propagation.

I was under the impression that Virgin Mobile users would have access to the WiMax network only. Sprint's 4g would only be available to Sprint Customers.

Is this true? I ask because WiMax is available in my area, but Sprint 4G is not.

Sprint's 4g is WiMax.

I meant to ask about Sprint 4G LTE and WiMax. Virgin users wouldn't have access to the 4G LTE network. Not that it makes much difference in my area. It's all pretty limited.

Sprint calls both the WiMax and LTE services "4G" so simply saying "Sprint 4G" is going to cause confusion.

Virgin Mobile USA will be providing "4G" data services via WiMax only. There are no plans to provide LTE service to VM USA customers. LTE services (once testing is completed and the product becomes available) will be sold only under the Sprint brand.

I ask because WiMax is available in my area, but Sprint 4G is not.

When you say "WiMax" is available in your area, what is your source of information? "WiMax" is just a type of radio interface like GSM or CDMA. What company is providing the service or what coverage map are you looking at?

Do not use the Clear coverage map unless you are planning to go sign up for Clear branded service. The Sprint and VM USA coverage maps both show 4G WiMax availability - there's no need to go elsewhere for the info. The Sprint and VM maps are not the same as the Clear map. Clear's map is optimized for Clear's three data-only devices and shows a much larger coverage area than Sprint/VM for WiMax services.

Just use the Virgin Mobile USA coverage map and choose the "4G" check box above the map. (or do the same with the Sprint coverage map). Both maps show areas that are likely to provide in building coverage vs. outdoor only coverage - the Clear map does not provide this important info.

Sensorly is probably accurate, but is also incomplete as all get out. Unless someone (or a bunch of people) have taken a smartphone with the Sensorly app running up and down a given street, the map will show no coverage. That doesn't necessarily mean there isn't any coverage, it just means Sensorly has no data for that area. Always use the coverage map provided by your carrier first, then go look at the Sensorly map to see if there is more specific info available.

network.sprint.com problem solved :p

At some point, the Sprint map will begin to show LTE coverage which will not apply to VM USA customers and that could cause confusion.

A better solution to the problem is to use the official VM USA coverage map. VM's coverage map shows voice, data (3G) and 4G (WiMax) coverage.

Well crap...already pre-orded the phone but after looking on VMs wimax map i see no 4g coverage in Orange County, Ca. I seriously hope that is wrong cuz im sick of my triumph.....never gonna buy a motorola phone again. What a buzzkill.

Virgin Mobile's map couldn't be less accurate even if it tried, lol! For those freaking out, don't worry. Follow the Clearwire map.

Even without WiMax I still think it's a no-brainer. $280 Triumph vs. $300 Evo V. It felt good just selling my damn Triumph last week, can't wait to see how much better I'm going to feel once my Evo V drops in my paws. ;)

Sprint has quietly turned on WiMax 4G quite a few places before they decided to dump WiMax and go with LTE. Maybe this will help you guys out..

So... Sprint now has WiMAX where I am according to that... Meh... Oh well HSPA is better than WiMAX IMO.

Edit: Also where did you get that list?
