Help 4g Service Map (WiMax)

So... Sprint now has WiMAX where I am according to that... Meh... Oh well HSPA is better than WiMAX IMO.

Edit: Also where did you get that list?

That is not a complete list......

Look at Fl for instance. Those are small towns. You do not see Miami, Ft Lauderdale, West Palm Bch., or Orlando listed in which we have excellent Wimax coverage.

I do not know what that list is supposed to represent but it is NOT a complete list. Go to the VM coverage map for best results....

I know that isn't a complete list... That list is the new towers only... That doesn't include the ones that are already existent. I'm with T-mo right now anyways so it really doesn't matter to me at this point anymore. Maybe if I knew VM was gonna get 4g and it was coming here I woulda stayed.

ok my bad...... I thought you were saying no coverage based on the list cause u asked about it.

I was looking at the voice coverage map just now. Has anyone driven through Montana with a vm phone? Is there seriously zero coverage there, even on the freeway? I'm not going there anytime soon, but I am a little surprised. In the mountains, sure, most of Montana, sure. On the freeway, nothing?

How does WiMAxx speeds compare to T-Mobiles HSPA+ speeds? I've heard that Wimaxx has the worst speeds of the four major carriers. Wanted to know cuz if I'm going to upgrade my phone to the Evo V and go onto the 35 plan I really want it to be worth it. The other option I'm considering is getting a Galaxy Nexus and moving to T-mobile 30 dollar plan. So how do the networks compare and the phones?

Well theoretically you can get 42 mb/s down on T-mo HSPA+ Although I have gotten like a max of close to 10 mb/s down which isn't bad. From what I have read though Sprint's WiMAX is worse than T-mo's HSPA. IMO T-mo is the better plan anyways since if you want a new phone all you have to do is get a different GSM phone (unlocked or T-mo locked) and pop your sim in and it works. But as far as speeds go for each network it's really gonna depend on your location...

Unlocked AT&T phones will only get 3G speeds though. That's the problem my fiancee had. I don't know if that's with all unlocked AT&T phones but that was the killer.

Plus if you go over a certain amount of data usage, Can't they start charging you extra or cut you off completely?

I just remember reading a lot of fine print...

2g.... I wish 3g, although they are in the process of totally reforming their 1900mhz band (which is 2g BTW) to be able to run their 3g/ HSPA network (mainly for the iPhone since T-mo isn't getting the iPhone although it will affect any phone that runs on the 1900mhz band. Like AT&T phones and even International devices.)

And they can throttle you to 2g speeds after you reach your softcap, but that's as much as they can do I'm fairly certain... (unless you're tethering without paying the $15 a month extra for the plan then they can cut you off id they feel like it). And if you manage to use a whole bunch of data on 2g to even try to get cut off I would be amazed... 2g is as slow as molasses... Although molasses is probably faster lol

Strange, just went to check on virgin mobile website. The 4g coverage in my area is greater than the 3g.

You getting 10mb/s on HSPA+ i've gotten close to that on 3G around 7mbps. Really carriers shouldn't label their "4G" service 4G...maybe 3.5G (LTE, WiMax,etc) FCC standard for actual 4G service is 100mbps download and upload. Regardless if your using HSPA, LTE, WiMax none of us has ever seen 100mbps 4G connections on our phones and probably won't for years to come. Some areas are lucky to get 2g service lol

Haha this sucks 4G in Wisconsin is usable,,,, by sprint only so the clear.com maps is useless unless.... Unless this is only from Wisconsin, anyone live in a different state that is listed in the long post the Page before that live in a small town with 4G to confirm this?

Hey guys,
I been searching around the web for a wimax coverage map so look up the availability of WiMax 4g in my area Hollywood California and Los Angeles can anyone pin point me the right direction to check the service in my area thank you.

I call shenanigans on that clear map lol. I'm in a dark green area less than a quarter mile from the tower. I have no 4g. Maybe outside my apartment?
It's all good though, I didn't get the phone for 4gness.

Wow, that's just frickin' funny. Where I live (near Asheville, NC), we have two - count 'em, two stretches of Interstate 40 with 4G! Each is about two miles long. Woo Hoo!

Don't get my hopes up man. I thought when Sprint dumped 4G and gave it to VM, they also got rid of 4G service in some areas(Finishing their contract with Clearwire is what caused this). I had also read a article about Sprint's coverage map not showing 4G in some areas anymore like Michigan
(At least in Detroit). I'm moving Michigan sometime next month, and I wanted to know if they have 4G over there or not. In the mean time, I'm going to do my own research using the best search engine in the world(also called Google).
Edit: Found my proof : http://androidforums.com/htc-evo-v-4g/562694-sprint-evo-3d-virgin.html#post4600131 I was correct about Detroit not having 4G anymore.

Haha I live in Kernersville, NC and supposedly we have it all over cause we're right on the 40...yeah not so much. but congrats on your on the road 4g hahaha

Congrats on getting 7mbps on 3G, I wasn't getting that kind of speed on WiMax. And I was lucky if I got even 1mbps on 3G with VM -- typically my speeds were in the 300kbps range, sometimes dropping to dial up speeds (50 kbps).

I've been pretty happy with T-Mobile. I get faster speeds than I was getting with WiMax on VM and don't have to turn on an extra antenna to get those speeds.

Nice this must have just been updated, because a week ago the only place I got 4g was at my house.

I live a mile from BWI airport (Baltimore area) and the maps have always shown 4G for us but I'll be damned if I have ever been able to connect to 4G. I consider myself lucky to even receive a call or text message anymore. Sprint service as a whole sucks miserably anymore. I'm really considering leaving them for Verizon.
