Root 4g speeds throttled??!!

just read an article stating that if you are not paying the full $70 a month for unlimited 4g data that your data is being throttled?? can anyone confirm this?

if this is true we def need to look into removing the data governor if its possible. i know that MikeKelso successfully removed it on the optimus but i dont know how lol. it was in services.jar but i dont know where. it might have changed by now. if anyone knows anything about it post here please!!!
 
unless you've been "grandfathered" in, then there shouldnt be a problem, idk how it works for individual plans because I'm on a family plan, mybar never moves.
 
like Fuzzy stated, i believe the way is supposed to work is if you dont have the unlimited, you will get regular 4g speeds until you reach your cap, then you get throttled
 
ohhhh ok...that makes sense...i still might look around in services.jar and see what i can find tho lol
 
Download speeds are much better! :-) But on the other hand phone is very laggy now! :-\ BTW I'm using rom #2/18.3! :)
 
metro pcs has tiered 4g plans like other major carriers where more $ gets you more 4g data. but im on the $50 plan and ive never reached my limit lol
 
im not sure about what this is exactly about and grandfathering, but ive had 4g ever since it was first available in my area for metro. I am very disappointed with it. the 4g antenna loses signal ALL the time, and the speed is a joke. My mom's 3g goes faster on verizon than metro's 4g does, and the only time I get anything faster than normal speed is surfing the web. downloading an app or streaming movies/music takes just as long as it did on my lg optimus.
