i have been getting https://4gdaypass.sprint.com since i can remember. when i connect to 4g service, get an IP, and then try to get to the internet such as espn.com. once i type espn.com in the browser, i am redirected to the 4gdaypass screen to sign up for 4g service even though i have the service as part of my account.

after chatting w/a sprint rep for 1 hr and doing ##3282# and doing a restore, then updating profile and prl (which i had done many times before chatting w/them); i was instructed to call 1-888-211-4727 for technical support. i do so, and the CS tries to blow smoke tell me there is an outage. i firmly explain that i have another evo that is currently connected to 4g and is able to connect to espn.com w/o getting the 4gdaypass screen. i firmly tell him again my issue and he decided to change his demeanor and help me. finally he directed me to call 8886496711 for the 4g day pass support.

talked to a new gentleman there that new exactly what i was getting and why, but he couldnt do anything about it and had to get me over to another group. this guy says that even though I connect to 4g and get an ip, 4g is missing from my account and that this other group needs to add the service.

talked to 8882114727 opt 2, 4, 4, 2 (back to orginal tech support) and was placed on hold for at least 15min (maybe more) while they researched. this lady tells me again there is an outage and that is why i am getting the 4gdaypass screen. again, i told her that i understand there is an outage, but my issue has been going on since i can remember. i asked her if i had all the needed option on my phone number to connect me to 4g because the previous guy said that i am missing something with 4g. she said everything is there to connect to 4g. she got me to a manager w/o me asking. was on hold for another 15min or more to talk with a manager.

talked to an escalation manager and he had no idea what i was talking about and refused to open a trouble ticket. he did however give me advanced tech support number of 8777358405.

i contacted advanced support 8777358405 and the lady i talked to knew exactly what i was talking about and agreed with me that it had nothing to do with the outage, but with the phone itself. she put in a trouble ticket explaining the issue and adviced me to take my phone to the store to see if they can authorize a advanced exchange. i also found out to always get the insurance for the phone because if you dont, and you take your phone into the store for service, the store will charge you $35 just to look at the phone.

so, i have a paper to right this afternoon and class tomorrow, so i will take my phone into the store sat and see what they say.

I could be completely wrong here but Rooting screws up your WiMax keys and I have heard the newest CM ROM has WiMax working but your keys could still be screwed up. Granted in that scenario you shouldn't be able to connect at all but it is a possibility. I say this because my dad has the 3g/4g Overdrive Hotspot but he only pays for the 3g access so when I connect it to 4g that page loads everytime. Because the WiMax keys are not authorized to have internet access... just connection.
Probably though it is a problem with your account on that line.

i have unrooted my phone before talking to sprint. i agree that it has something to do with my account on this line. i am on a family plan and the other 2 evo's connect just fine.

Unfortunately unrooting doesn't fix the WiMax key issues. I think someone here or over at XDA figured out how to repair or regenerate the keys so maybe search for that just to see if yours are in fact screwed up.

Ahhhh...yes...but does it have something to do with your previous wimax key issue.

Very interesting indeed. Sounds like you should get a new phone though.

Find out what you can about the $35 deal. Rumor in the sprint carrier forum is that sprint cancelled that program

i have my keys. i know that for sure.

Ahh yes you failed to mention that you had lost your keys and done the hack. There is a darn good chance that is why you are getting that screen. Actually I would say that is exactly your issue. Maybe try to get different keys? Go back through that entire process because the ones you have are not authorized for 4g access just like my Dad's Overdrive. Or if you have insurance get a new phone. I am guessing here but I think the reason Sprint can't fix it is because they are attempting to refresh a key that no longer exists (probably not and accurate description of what they are doing but you get the picture).

Hrm......if I do have any more evo issues sprint has told me I can switch to any device. If that were the case I would prolly try the 3d
