$50 plan versus $40 plan

Why is it that every metro commercial i hear always says "4g lte plans as low as $50 a month "when they have a $40 plan?

Has to be good reason not to push the cheaper plan that would logically sound more appealing?

There no difference in data speeds right? Cause I'm on the old $40 plan and i love it but the only thing i care about is speeds. I don't care about everything else that's on the $50 plan.

the minimum data plan for an Android phone ..not 4G is 50$

maybe to create less confusion..if the 40$ was better speeds Id switch to that since mine are not so good lol

I understand the minimum data plan non 4G is $50 bucks but they announce in commercials that you can get 4G LTE for as little as $50 a month. Not Android phones for a plan as little as $50 a month.

I can understand wanting to push the $50 plan because it's the most versatile and obvious plan but still it's not "as little as" because its not the cheapest. Makes no sense. Which is why I was wondering if I was missing something.

Plus it would take A LOT to get me to come off my old $40 plan. That plan is the ish and it would take the world for me to leave it.

I agree. I'm on the old $60 plan & have no plans to change. I gave my old Esteem to my girlfriend & she has to go on the new $40 plan (not internet savvy). But I am curious about their new $55 unlimited. That's one I'm gonna look into for her.

I was on the old 60 dollars plan and I switched to the new 55 unlimited plan. As far as I know the only thing I'll be losing is free rhapsody. I wasn't using that anyways. I have two lines so it's 50 each. Pretty damn good for unlimited 4g. I get my money's worth too. Youtube all day.

thats cuz the $40 plan has a 250mb data limit and advertising that compared with other carriers would be like advertsing whats wrong first with a car that your selling lol they know a typical user needs more than that so they kind of leave that as a plan b for users.

But still, when term "as low as" is used it means the cheapest.

I don't care either way, just seems strange.

perhaps they only have that plan to suit very lite users that they know they wont make much money off? tell me something if your trying to make the most money u can and you were a realtor would u advertise the cheapest house u got or the most expensive first? keep in mind they prefer if everyone would be on the $50 plan atleast so they advertise it more.

In the new commercials their promoting the $55 unlimited 4gLTE and if its a family plan it ends up being $50 for unlimited talk text and 4gLTE.

The old $40 I know has 250mb of video streaming but i highly doubt metro even monitors those plans anymore.

so you have 250mb data limit? if so how much of that do u use on that on average?

No. I have the old plan. It's 100 mb BUT only multimedia streaming counts towards data. Not like the new plan where EVERYTHING counts towards data. ;)

See why i won't give it up? Cause it's basically REAL unlimited cause i don't stream anything. :D

haha nice did u know before 4g made it to tampa they gave me the first 4g plan for $50 and i was locked in or aka grandfathered in no limits but some metro rep screwed up my plan and instead made changes 2 my other phone i have on my account which isnt even a 4g phone so when she switched it over she couldnt give me back my $50 plan.......

That's exactly why i do all my plan changes myself online. If i loose this plan, i will move to straight talk. It's the only thing keeping me here.

That's why I think this new company that's launching in September 21 is going to be competition for you simple mobile because simple mobile is raising their prices on 4 G I think (solavei wireless )

Yeah they use tmobile towers and you can bring any gsm phone they are a better alternative than straight Talk they give you 2.5gb though :(

What exactly makes it better just curious? I thought att towers were better than t mobile ones?

Well I have heard better things about simple mobile than straight Talk that's all I'm basing this out of friends that have simple mobile but I wouldn't leave metro

Oh okay cool. I'll have to check it out and see. Where do you sign up? Online? I wonder if my area is covered.
