Root 985hPaKicK 2nd init recovery

depends on sdcard speed. but if you had to choose from never having an unlocked bootloader with nothing, or booting from sdcard and having it run slightly slower.. id personally go buy a high end card (you can get a 32GB micro sdcard that has read speeds of over 30MBps for 25 bucks on amazon) and experience no lag :P

That would be a requirement for me if I was booting any ROM from an SD card lol. Would that work with a custom kernel too??

@Shabbs, can you build kang jelly or cm kang? I informed ABC Dev team members to do great themes and ROM. I'll keep you updated. Thanks Cretinoid and 985hPaKicK

Yeah. This works great. Nice find. Made a backup already. Lol.

Okay... even more clearing up;
Is there any way we could get a list of things that can/shouldn't be flashed?

For example: supercharger, 4.2 keyboard, and other zip updates.
(And obviously not ROMs or kernals)

I understand it may be too soon, but I think it could serve as a warning to users not to flash anything that could cause problems.
Thanks.

I would not flash any zips for other phones, unless someone who is experienced has looked at the install script, and is sure it is not going to overwrite anything important

Can we flash or able to flash uot themes?

you can do what ever you want to do, it is your phone

my recommendation is to wait for developers to make themes and ROMS for this particular phone, so they can test it out first

Alright, I'll have a phone again around friday. The guy at metro was great. Ordered me a new phone, no questions, for only 11 dollars.

I have no idea where e-mode is, the 2nd-init recovery could have replaced/corrupted it.

you overwrote your emode when you flashed that zip file

emode is in the bootloader, since you overwrote sb3, obviously it is in sb3

I would not release something that would do something like that

yes this recovery can brick your phone if you do not know what you are doing, it is a powerful tool

I put a warning in the OP that I wanted experienced people testing it

I am not saying that you are not experienced, but an experienced person would of known to not flash unknown zips to the phone

when you install a CWM flash-able zip files, there is a thing called an installer script, which can format partitions and stuff

the installer script you used over wrote you sbl3 partiton, that is why you do not have emode

OK, so I know not to do that anymore. Does anyone have a link to a list of which partition is what (such as sbl3 being boot)?

click on my username, and go to statistic, and then find all posts by me, and then you will find it

I know what you mean. And I meant the Zip updates that are safe for any phone. Such as the jellybean keyboard one on xda. :p

I know I wont be flashing anything... or at least until I understand it completely.

Anyways, thanks for finding this out. :D

I would encourage you to learn how to open the zip file and look at the install script before you flash anything

they are found in

META-INF\com\google\android\updater-script

some scripts are harmless, and they will only mount the system partition and copy a few files

some of them format your partitions or over write them with files, and can kill your phone
