Root 985hPaKicK 2nd init recovery

its a backup i made b4 i screwed my phone up i tried factory reset from cwm but when i try to restore it just says checking md5 sums... then md5 mismatch

That happened to me. I just tore the phone up. I eventually did the http://androidforums.com/motion-4g-...rick-lg-motion-unroot-getting-1-5ghz-kdz.html
and started from scratch, root/recovery, backup, debloat, backup. I think it wants us to do everything through that recovery apk. It didnt take that long to do. :santaclaus:

Are you moving, renaming, copying or anything like that to the original backup? My suggestion is don't. I tried renaming and that threw the md5, i just leave it alone in fear of that garbage happening again.

I was able to rename backups and they restore just fine. As long as the were made and restored through that LTE2 init recv.app

Try a factory reset from the phone. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think its power and both buttons on boot. Saved me yesterdat

Are you using a Sandisk SD?

I don't back up to anything other than a Sandisk. Too many corrupted Nandroids on no-name SDs.

We've received a number of requests via email, contacts and reports to sticky this - that began on Christmas Eve and hasn't stopped yet.

Staff is assessing what to do here. By Hroark/cretinoid's own words in the first post, he didn't have permission to post this - and we note the high irony in that as well as the propriety.

In any case - things are worked in order.

Thanks to Santa bringing many new Android toys for the good girls and boys who are having trouble setting up passwords, finding their forums and learning to share, and also thanks to the spammers that we gave lumps of coal trying to attack us for the holidays, staff is more than quite busy at the moment.

We understand that this is important to many of you, but we are a volunteer staff working over the holidays.

Please be patient, this will be assessed and action taken in its turn.

Thank you. :)

Hopefully it does so people can actually learn, and not read noob guides.
Hopefully :p;)

the issue i have with the logic of he didnt have permission is that its a grey area. he didnt have explicit permission to post it here, nor did plasticarmyman when he posted the 4xd cwm. or any time any one else posts something on this site as a re-post from another forum (what i would imagine is most of yall's traffic.).

the odds that most of the content on this forum is original and/or posted with explict permission is fairly slim. if this is against the rules then please let me know as i have a lot of threads to go start reporting :p

to clarify, im not talking about posting something without giving credit, most AF users handle that without issue. i am more of talking about if someone posts a hack or mod from the bigger phones on AF's without the explicit consent from the person who created it :)

As far as i know, if you post something from someone else without giving credit....whether you have consent or not is not an issue unless it is trademarked or copyrighted....it's just not moral to take credit for someone else's work...so don't...if you post someone else's work then give them the credit...

on another point...hey shab's...do you think this might work, with some tweaking, for our phone?

if you do i have a few roms/kernels you can play with :) and mine was LITERALLY just shipped from samsung so i should get it back for the weekend to make a nice new touchwiz rom for em :)

I also sent a message to a few developers to ask how to see if a device can boot from the SD...because that could be an option here...and it would be awesome

Just found out that in recovery by hitting the home button you can switch between using the sd or the extsd for zip packages or recoveries.

For Nooks, it seems that the bootloader is written to boot SD first. It doesn't take any special key combos, software tricks, or mods. If it finds bootable files on the SD, it boots them, just like a bootdisk in a PC.

I'd be happy to poke around the Nook if any devs think it might be helpful. I'm kinda doubting it, though; but just in case...
