A house divided

I switched from a BB Curve to a Hero almost 2 years ago. Loved me some Android. Got the Evo on day 1, still loving it. Got a Droid for one daughter, Droid 2 Global for my other daughter. They are loving their Android, too. Wife finally agreed to step up from a stupid phone. I let her go to the Verizon store by herself and she came home with an iPhone 4! I am so ashamed and if you feel the need to expel me I understand.

In all honesty, she wouldn't have been willing to spend the time setting up her Thunderbolt correctly. She will probably love her iPhone.

Well, you can't win them all. And I hear that you can install android on an iphone now... ;)

Just get some root action going, free hotspots, tether, etc. and then she'll be jealous. Or annoyed. Your call with that one.

And iPhones are great for people who want a specific experience form their phone.

If she thinks it suits her best then so be it. I couldn't care less what devices others choose. Those that do are fanboys IMO.

That applies to any smartphone. You have to want the specific experience that the smartphone offers.

I have an almost complete Android household

I have the Inspire 4G, my wife has a Samsung Vibrant and my teenage daughter has a Mytouch Slide. The odd one out is my son who has a cricket phone. It was my daughters phone at first and her grandmother gave it to her so we just decided to pass it along to my 10 yr old son. He has an iPod touch anyway and just needs something to make calls. We even got my mother in-law hooked up with a Motorola Charm.

Viva la difference!

Always let the wife have what she wants, and never EVER question her choice. If she comes to the realization that she'd like something else, be helpful and supportive. Or, you could criticize, condescend and gloat ... and join a monastery.

My wife's on iPhone 3G and is holding out for iPhone 5.

addicted to the kool-aid I guess. And she's scientific minded with an engineering background. She can't give me a good answer why she prefers it over Android. I think the best answer was, "cause it's pretty."

Girls.

Wife=key word...you shouldnt have let her go alone if you wanted the decision made right lol.

Seriously though it's personal preference

In the office I work in there are 4 Androids, 2 Nokia Symbians, 2 dumb phones and just 1 iPhone. The iPhone owner also has an iPad.

The Androids are 2 DHDs (one of which is mine) a Samsung Galaxy S and a SE X10 Mini-Pro.

Back on topic: It's my wife's birthday next week and she wants an iPhone.

^ This!

On the flip-side, I'm the one who did the research & made the leap to Android. My husband and I were late iPhone 3G adopters. It was the only decent phone at the time on AT&T. I was getting tired of Apple and their nonsense last year so my husband used his upgrade to get me a Captivate. I've been a happy camper ever since! So unless Google & the OEMs implode, I can't see myself ever wanting any other OS.

Father's Day is coming so I think it's time to get the hubby his first Android! :D

Ok so she still came home with a dumb phone. Did you ask her why waste the upgrade lol.

That was a good point about iphone being the only good phone at AT&T. When I was looking for a phone while with AT&T all they would say is iphone or Blackberry. I had to find WinMo on my own.

My son spiked his iPhone yesterday and is now the proud owner of a Thunderbolt. He's really getting smart as he matures.

True, but don't you think that generally android offers a more diverse experience? Even without rooting, there are several different launchers available in the market, and different companies offer UI overlays to add a bit of spice to the mix.
