A New DX Update...for those who still care!

Seems kinda strange to me that it can't reload the widgets. It does it every time you reboot. Why is this case any different?

Before the update I had no issues. Now I have a problem where I cannot make calls. Doesn't happen right away, the phone will be fine then it will just not answer calls coming in or make them going out until I reboot. After rebooting it works fine again for a day or so and then rinse and repeat. Just me? Anyone else seen this? Thanks.

Samesies, thought it was just me but after a reboot its fine so every couple of days I do. It is a little annoying but our x's do have a little age not that I'm complaining just sayin

FYI Here's what worked for me. It was flawless. I'm able to install new root required apps.

1) Install Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper
2) Run VOR, create root backup
2) unfreeze frozen apps in Titanium Backup
3) rename .bak's back to .apk's using Root Explorer
4) temporarily remove root with VOR
5) DL/install update
6) Run VOR restore root
7) freeze apps
8) swap out my friggin' battery if I need to.
9) enjoy my updated DX

Will this work if you're a few updates behind? Like...still running Froyo 2.3.340? Is this newest update ICS? Sorry, I haven't been here for a while...obviously!

edit: couple more ?'s...will I have to D/L all my apps again like TiBackup and Cachemate? Will I have to resetup Carhome ultra with all my settings? TIA!

n2, your best bet would be to sbf to .602 or .605, then root and install root keeper, create a backup in recovery, disable update checker (so you don't get updated to .621), then restore just apps, no system data (no green, no red).

If you think you want to go to .621, you'll want to use root keeper. Reports have been good, but I don't know if it's 100% guaranteed to work. .621 can't be rooted, but there are work-arounds (that I'd rather not use).

Are you determined to stay on the stock rom?

That depends, is this update GB or ICS? I want to run ICS so I can use the new Time Warner app to watch tv on the phone.

Then you don't want .621, it's just a couple fixes to GB. You could install 2init roms (cm9, miui, etc) that are based on ICS, but you'd have to jump thru a lot of hoops.

Best to stay with 602 or 605 and install a custom rom.

Ah, that's what I thought after doing a little research. Do you think the Time Warner app would work for streaming TV on a custom rom? From what I've read, it looks like the DX won't be getting ICS from Verizon
and you have to be on android 4.0 or better for the app to work. Anybody running it on a custom rom yet? Thanks!

I just got the update. Had to come check in here to see what the dealio was! Phone ran like crap after going to GB, so here's hoping it will run better now. The lag had me thinking about upgrading, since I'm now eligible, but I'll wait and see what happens with this. Any thoughts?
