Root A Newbie's Best Friend: Rooting and Flashing Step by Step Guide

Okay, wasn't being specific, sorry. Go to the app drawer and find an app that's called/named Super User. Go to it(if you are rooted) and see if its list Root Explorer under "Deny"

Same results as before-empty lists. and if App Drawer and Super User was suppose to be installed with Root and Flash Clockwork Recovery, I actually installed it manually. I really think the black window has something wrong in it. According to Root Explorer and Rom Manger, I'm not rooted even though I followed the instructions correctly.

Are you running the batch file or the sh file?

Wait... What file did you download? That's not the AIO I don't think which isn't going to root you

Well, I finally rooted it. I don't know what zip I download or where it's from but it obviously was the wrong one. Also, get this...I un-bricked it from a loop boot animation hell. That's the second time in a row, I saved an Android device from being a paperweight. Thanks for all of your help.

Yea that was just the cwr installer. But you cant install that unless you are rooted. You ust of had that file for a while. Thats how we did it at first before MT/PG put together the all in one root and recovery package.

Just curious did you install the CWR 6.0.0.0 touch screen recovery?

I am on ZVD stock metro image, installed CWR and it completed, but when i load Super User it states SU binary not Found... NOt sure whay, i have tried to reinstall the ap but still nothing. Should I re- Root?

For sure-the phone is not root:thumbup:

Also make sure you put TB on your ext sd card before you do a factory reset when you flash a new rom or you will have to go to market and download it again before you can restore your backups. Factory reset wipes all the internal memory back to factory including TB.

To piggyback on this, the "backup folder location" also needs to be moved to the external SD card. Otherwise the folder will get deleted from the internal memory after doing a factory reset.

To change the backup folder: Open TB > Menu > Preferences > scroll down to Backup folder location and click on it > from there, choose external SD card.

this is what i am getting.. the drivers are installed correctly. i updated to zvd.. any help please

Multiple posts wont get your question answered any quicker ;)

Drivers aren't installed. Thats why ADB isn't recognized.

That or your firewall or anti virus is blocking adb from running. adb will pop in most firewalls so you have to make an exception for it.

have you checked and edited your "path" in your Computer (right click), Properties, Advanced System Settings(prompted for Admin Password if you have one), Environment Variables, scroll down to path... what does yours say?
